    Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for enabling a mesh network node to switch from a base station role to a user equipment role relative to a second mesh network node, and vice versa. By switching roles in this manner, the mesh network node may be able to benefit from increased uplink or downlink speed in the new role. This role reversal technique is particularly useful when using wireless protocols such as LTE that are asymmetric and allow differing throughput on uplink and downlink connections. Methods for determining whether to perform role reversal are disclosed, and methods for using role reversal in mesh networks comprising greater than two nodes are also disclosed.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may measure the reference signal received power (RSRP) of reference signals from other UEs in a time window and exclude resources of transmissions with a measurement which is above RSRP threshold. In some cases, not enough resources are identified, and the UE may increase the RSRP and search for resources again, however the UE may only increase the RSRP until a stop RSRP limit is reached. The UE may increase the RSRP based on an absolute value or a factor of an incremental power value. Once the stop RSRP threshold is reached, the UE may modify the size of the time window, shift the time window, or reduce the number of retransmission of the sidelink message to search for resources for the sidelink message.

Thus, in some instances, the UE may perform congestion control metrics for a one or more search spaces in which the UE may transmit sidelink communications. The congestion control metrics that may be limited to the search space may preserve UE resources that would otherwise need to be expended to perform channel sensing on an entire resource pool prior to initiating sidelink communication.
