Abstract: Disclosed are copolyesters comprising an acid component of 4,4'-biphenyldicarboxylic acid and a glycol component comprising 1,6-hexanediol and ethylene glycol.Injection-molded bars of the coplyesters exhibit unusually high stiffness and tensile strength compared to polyesters described in the art.

Abstract: An improved thermosetting coil coating composition contains a binder of a thermosetting polyester polymer particularly resistant to crystallization and adapted to be crosslinked with an aminoplast resin. The polyester comprises the condensation copolymer of 2-methyl-1,3-propane diol, neopentyl glycol, isophthalic acid, and terephthalic acid.
Abstract: A resin composition being useful for coating on electrically conductive lines comprises (A) a halogen-containing polyester having a halogen content of 0.5 to 30 wt. % and being a polycondensation product of (a), (b) and (c) wherein(a) is a component composed mainly of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid or an ester forming derivative thereof,(b) is a component composed mainly of an aliphatic glycol or an ester forming derivative thereof, and(c) is a component composed of an ester forming compound containing a halogen and 0.1 to 10 wt. %, based on the total composition, of (B) at least one carbodiimide compound.

Abstract: An aqueous printing ink or its semi-aqueous or non-aqueous concentrate exemplified as comprising a substantially homogeneous system of the components:(1) from about 4 to about 80 weight % of one or more polyester materials having an acid component of from about 75 to about 84 mole % isophthalic acid and conversely from about 25 to about 16 mole % 5-sodiosulfoisophthalic acid, and having a glycol component of from about 45 to about 60 mole % diethylene glycol and conversely from about 55 to about 40 mole % 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol or ethylene glycol or mixtures thereof;(2) from about 0 to about 60 weight % of pigment material;(3) from substantially none to about 90 weight % of water; and(4) from about 0.25 to about 5 weight % of a diacyl-glycerophospholipid.

Abstract: Flexible polyurethane foam prepared from foam forming compositions of a polyether polyol, an organic isocyanate compound, a blowing agent, and a curing agent of a melamine derivative in an amount effective to rapidly cure the resultant foam and improve the compression set properties of the foam, the amount of curing agent generally ranging from about 0.01 up to about 2 parts by weight based on 100 parts polyether polyol. Also, flame retardant polyether polyurethane foam prepared from foam forming components of a polyether polyol, an organic isocyanate compound, water, a liquid phosphorus ester in an amount of about 4 to 10 parts by weight and the curing agent in an amount of 0.4 to 2 parts by weight, each based on 100 parts by weight of the polyether polyol in the composition. Abstract: A diallyl terephthalate prepolymer is here disclosed which essentially has the following structureCH.sub.2 .dbd.CHCH.sub.2 O(COArCOOBO).sub.n COArCOOCH.sub.2 CH.dbd.CH.sub.2wherein B is a divalent organic residue derived from a diol having 2 to 20 carbon atoms, Ar is a 1,4-phenylene group, and n is a value of 1 to 100, and having an unsaturation in a range of 20 to 100, as represented by an iodine value determine by the Wijs method, and there is also disclosed a method for preparing the diallyl terephthalate prepolymer.The method of the present invention permits obtaining the allyl prepolymer having excellent physical properties from inexpensive raw materials with less labor.Since this prepolymer has a double bond suitably, it can be mixed with unsaturated polyester resin or diallyl phthalate resin, when used. Moreover, the prepolymer can be also used as a crosslinking agent for EPR, elaslene, synthetic rubber and the like.
Abstract: A one-pot, two-step process for the preparation of 2,3-bis(hydroxymethyl) bicyclo [2,2,1] heptane in a non-toxic solvent is described. The compound is used for the preparation of a polyester.
Abstract: There is disclosed a biaxially oriented film formed of film forming composition comprising a polyoxymethylene polymer in which the major constituent of the main chains of said polymer each of consists substantially of repeating units of oxymethylene group --CH.sub.2 --O--, said film being characterized in that, when said film is remelted at a temperature above the melting point of said film and the resulting melt is recrystallized isothermally at 140.degree. C. into a solid in film form, the number of polyoxymethylene spherulites in the crystal structure at the surface of the resulting film would be at least 50 per 0.1 mm.sup.2 area of the resulting film surface, as measured with a polarizing microscope through cross-polarizers, and a process for manufacturing the same.
Abstract: A method of preparing water-dispersed polymer blends, comprising the steps of:(i) preparing an aqueous polymerization mixture by adding to water, a sulfonate group-containing polyester or polyesteramide, one or more .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated monomers and a polymerization initiator; and(ii) polymerizing said polymerization mixture to provide said water-dispersed polymer blend.Also disclosed is an aqueous dispersion of a polymer blend, comprising an aqueous dispersion having a solids content of about 30% to 65% of a polyester or polyesteramide blend comprising a sulfonate group-containing polyester or polyesteramide and a polymer comprising repeat units from one or more .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated monomers.

Abstract: There are provided new elastomeric copolymers of about 15 to 45 mol %, preferably about 25 to 35 mol % trioxane, about 55 to 85 mol %, preferably about 65 to 75 mol % of 1,3-dioxolane, said mol percents based on the total of trioxane and 1,3-dioxolane, and about 0.005 to 0.15 wt. %, preferably about 0.05 to 0.12 wt. % of 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether or butadiene diepoxide as a bifunctional monomer, based on the total weight of copolymer. The elastomeric copolymers may be prepared by mixing said monomers in a substantially dry state and under an inert atmosphere with a cationic polymerization catalyst, e.g., p-nitrobenzenediazonium tetrafluoroborate. The elastomeric copolymers have a strong interaction with moldable, crystalline acetal polymers comprising at least 85 mol % of polymerized oxymethylene units and may be used as a blending agent with such crystalline acetal polymers or as a bonding agent to improve the adhesiveness of the crystalline acetal polymer to other materials.
