Abstract: In a vehicular communication network, a communication device generates a physical layer (PHY) preamble of a PHY protocol data unit (PPDU) for transmission in the vehicular communication network. The communication device generates a plurality of PHY data segments of the PPDU, and one or more PHY midambles, each PHY midamble to be transmitted between a respective pair of adjacent PHY data segments, and each PHY midamble including one or more training signal fields. Generating the one or more PHY midambles includes, when the PPDU is to be transmitted according to an extended range (ER) mode, generating each training signal field to include i) a first portion based on a very high throughput long training field (VHT-LTF) defined by the IEEE 802.11ac Standard and ii) a second portion based on the VHT-LTF defined by the IEEE 802.11ac Standard; and transmitting, by the communication device, the PPDU in the vehicular communication network.

  • Patent number: 11973581
Abstract: The time synchronization of a network is protected against unauthorized changes to the grandmaster clock of a base time domain by monitoring the physical communication interfaces of a network device for arrival of messages relating to time synchronization. If the messages relating to time synchronization apply to the initially set-up and synchronized base time domain, a check is performed to determine whether the messages relating to time synchronization announce a new grandmaster clock having better clock parameters than those of the present grandmaster clock. If so, a virtual base time domain is started by the network device. If the verification reveals that the proposed new grandmaster clock is trustworthy or valid, the network device discontinues the virtual time domain, updates its stored information concerning the grandmaster clock and, from this time onward, sends messages relating to time synchronization that are based on the new clock parameters to the network.

  • Patent number: 11968639
Abstract: A vehicular control system includes a first electronic control unit (ECU) and a second ECU disposed at a vehicle. The first and second ECUs are in digital communication with one another via a communication link. The first ECU transmits a first frame to the second ECU, which, responsive to receiving the first frame from the first ECU, transmits a second frame to the first ECU. The first ECU, responsive to receiving the second frame from the second ECU, determines a propagation delay based on an amount of time between when the first ECU transmitted the first frame to the second ECU and when the first ECU received the second frame from the second ECU. The first ECU, responsive to determining the propagation delay, transmits a time synchronization frame to the second ECU that is based at least in part on the determined propagation delay.

  • Patent number: 11949494
Abstract: A Non-Geostationary Orbit (NGSO) satellite system is described that utilizes backbone route tables at its satellites that define different snapshots of a time-varying backbone topology of the NGSO satellite system. Because each satellite may see a different portion of the backbone topology, the backbone route tables at different satellites may be different from each other. Also, the backbone route tables at the satellites may be active at different times as the backbone topology changes over time. Different routing groups of backbone route tables may be defined in order to represent different routing options for packets arriving at a satellite. The routing options for a routing group may emphasis various network performance and security goals for traffic assigned to the routing group.

Abstract: The disclosure relates in some aspects to sharing wireless communication resources. For example, a first type of device allocated to use a first resource pool may dynamically use a second resource pool allocated for a second type of device. The first type of device may use an entry criteria to determine whether to use the second resource pool. In some aspects, the entry criteria may specify that resource sharing is permitted if a ratio of resources used by devices of the second type (relative to the total resources in the second resource pool) is less than a threshold. In addition, the first type of device may use an exit criteria to determine whether to stop using the second resource pool. In some aspects, the exit criteria may specify that resource sharing should stop if a ratio of resources used by devices of the second type is greater than a threshold.
