  • Patent number: 8880461
Abstract: A method and system for providing a consistent flow documents and data content across different organizational units of a company or agency where the documents and data come from different enterprise systems and data stores but are related to linked processes that share models for organizing the content in the business context and in a format that enables a user to relate the content to the process step or steps they are performing. The system includes a network service that enables a configuration utility to automatically discover the objects and metadata and provides for a mapping of selected fields of the metadata to regions displayed in the user interface view with provision for filtering the data by mapping selected fields to a user input form. Thereby, a business analyst can create solutions without writing and maintaining complex program logic for each combination of presentation environment, enterprise system and data store.

  • Patent number: 8874520
Abstract: A system and method for caching fingerprints in a client cache is provided. A data object that comprises a set of data segments and describes a backup process is identified. Thereafter, a request referencing the data object is made to a deduplication server to request that a task identifier be added to the data object. If the deduplication server is able to successfully add the task identifier to the data object, then an active identifier is added to each data segment from the set of data segments in a cache that is within a client system.

  • Patent number: 8849835
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer program products, are described for reconciling data. In one implementation, a method includes generating co-occurrence scores indicating whether data in entries in a first source of data co-occur within documents in a plurality of documents with data in entries in a second source of data. The co-occurrence scores for a given entry in the first source of data are used to identify a plurality of candidate matching entries in the second source of data for the given entry. Data in fields in the given entry are compared to that of one or more of the candidate matching entries to produce field similarity scores. The field similarity scores and the co-occurrence scores are used to determine a match for the given entry among the plurality of candidate matching entries.

  • Patent number: 8843517
Abstract: A high speed data storage system including a logical disk that is implemented from disk systems (i.e., physical disk storage devices and associated controllers) that operate at speed lower than the input data rate. The logical disk supports the input data rate by multiplexing streaming data onto multiple physical disk storage devices. The resulting system has a logical read/write speed that is the sum of each of the disks participated in the storage system. Data written onto the data storage system can be retrieved directly, sequentially, or by means of advanced search techniques such as binary search or skip sequential search.

  • Patent number: 8838874
Abstract: A method, an article of manufacture, and system for heapifying an object. The method includes: storing, in a working set, a first address of a certain object in a stack frame, copying the certain object into the heap area and holding a second address of the certain object in the heap area, following each stack frame to find a pointer pointing to the first address stored in the working set, converting the address that the pointer points to into the second address, proceeding to a next stack frame, where the address conversion includes storing an address of another object in the working set if the converted address is stored as a value of a field of the other object in the stack frame, and terminating the process in response to a lack of pointers found in the stack frame to point to the addresses stored in the working set.

  • Patent number: 8838538
Abstract: Techniques for replicating changes to access control lists on investigative analysis data are disclosed. After a change is made in a database to an access control list (ACL) governing access to a secured component of a data object, an exporting nexus sends an ACL change network message to an importing nexus. The ACL change message includes information that importing nexus can use to apply the ACL change to the importing database. Applying the ACL change message includes using the information in the ACL change message to determine which change records for which secured components of the data object in the importing database the ACL change should be applied to. By doing so, user access to all change records in the importing database to which the ACL change is applied is governed by the new ACL, thereby preventing unauthorized access to the change records, including historical change records.

  • Patent number: 8832058
Abstract: A system provides client access to customized news content. The system includes a custom news source server and a news search server. The custom news source server periodically sends one or more customized search queries to a news search server. The news search server fetches news content from multiple news source servers and aggregates the news content. The news search server also periodically receives the one or more search queries from the custom news source server, searches the aggregated news content based on the one or more search queries, and periodically provides selected news content to the custom news server based on results of the searches. The custom news source server permits access to clients, from across a network, to the selected news content provided by the news search server.

  • Patent number: 8788458
Abstract: Systems, methods, computer program product embodiments and combinations and sub-combinations thereof for data caching and cache synchronization are described herein. An embodiment includes comparing data in a cache with data stored at a data source and determining database operations needed to synchronize one or more partitions of the cache with the data source. Each cache partition is associated with mobile business object (MBO) metadata of a distinct mobile device and the determined database operations are executed to synchronize the partitions with the data source. By refreshing only those partitions which are pertinent to a given device, embodiments of the invention may increase parallelism by allowing multiple partitions to refresh concurrently. The embodiment further comprises reviewing a caching policy associated with the cache. The caching policy may be selected in a manner that reduces data traffic and redundant requests on the data source.

  • Patent number: 8738882
Abstract: In a method of writing data to a file system on a solid state drive, a file stream is opened for writing to a file in the file system. A life expectancy value predicting a length of time the data to be written will be stored in the file system is attached to the file stream. The data is written to the file stream and stored on the solid state storage device according to the life expectancy value attached to the data. In one embodiment, a unique identifier may be used as the life expectancy value for writing a group of related files predicted to be stored in the file system for substantially the same length of time. The life expectancy value may be predicted based on a file type of the file being written. The life expectancy value may be stored as metadata for the file being written.

  • Patent number: 8738637
Abstract: A method of determining popularity of an e-mail is provided. The method includes receiving an e-mail and determining if a generated signature is associated with the e-mail. If there is no generated signature, then a signature is generated for associating with the e-mail. A popularity measure associated with the e-mail is determined based on the signature. Furthermore, a method of determining popularity of an e-mail is provided. The method includes receiving an e-mail and identifying a generated signature associated with the e-mail. The method further includes determining a match of the associated generated signature with a record of the generated signature, if the generated signature is identified. If the identified generated signature is determined to match the record of the generated signature, then a popularity measure associated with the e-mail is increased.

  • Patent number: 8738648
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided to deliver business information to users through users' online address books. Data aggregation servers associate individual businesses with one or more unique identifiers. The data aggregation servers collect, store and periodically update business information relating to individual businesses from a variety of sources, such as the businesses themselves and third party sources, such as online publications and message boards. The data aggregation servers store the information in association with the unique identifier. Electronic address book applications hosted on user devices store address book entries for individual businesses in local address book databases. The entries for each business include the unique identifier, and the online address book applications use the unique identifier to retrieve business information relating to individual businesses from the data aggregation servers.

  • Patent number: 8700573
Abstract: The present invention relates to a migration of a file from a path denotative NAS server to an ID denotative NAS server. In a file management device a migration-use path denotative NAS access section obtains a file deposit location from the path denotative NAS server, selects a migration target file based on the deposit location, and sends a read request with the deposit location of the migration target file to the path denotative NAS server, so as to obtain the migration target file. A migration-use denotative NAS access section generates a write request with the migration target file, sends it to the ID denotative NAS servers, and writes the file therein. In addition, the migration-use ID denotative NAS access section registers a GUID received from the ID denotative NAS servers in a file name/GUID management table, together with the file name of the migration target file.
