  • Patent number: 6089137
Abstract: A paper punch has an inner punch and an outer punch movably received with respect to each other. The outer punch has a first contour punch so as to be able to punch a hole in a piece of paper with the same contour as that of the first contour punch, and the inner punch has a second contour punch so as to punch a small hole in a piece of paper with the same contour as that of the second contour punch. Because the second contour punch moves first and the first and the second contour punches are placed concentrically, a piece of paper is then able to be punched twice by the first and the second contour punches to have an attractive shape.

  • Patent number: 6073824
Abstract: An apparatus and method for cleanly breaking a continuously advancing cellulose web includes a transfer fabric which supports and advances the cellulose web to a wind up zone. The transfer fabric forms a closed loop and is driven at a desired speed by a drive roll. At least two spray nozzles are arranged transversely across the advancing cellulose web as it is carried on the transfer fabric. The spray nozzles are capable of emitting a liquid under high pressure against the advancing cellulose web to form perforations across the width thereof. A plurality of hollow cores are independently and sequentially moved into position at the wind up zone to receive the advancing cellulose web. The hollow cores are located downstream of the spray nozzles and each hollow core is capable of accumulating a predetermined amount of the cellulose web.

  • Patent number: 6073349
Abstract: A wire stripper has a blade (33) projecting from a carrier (35) mounted in a handle (56). A hook-shaped wire clam (45) is slidably mounted in the handle and is spring-urged towards a position where a wire is pressed by the clamp on to the blade. The clamp (45) may be turned relative to the blade (35) about the axis of the handle between first and second positions when the blade performs a circumferential cut around a held wire or a longitudinal cut along a held wire, respectively. The clamp (45) may be turned through an acute angle from the first position to a third position where the blade (33) performs a helical cut along a held wire. A spring biases the clamp to the first position, or selectively to the third position.

  • Patent number: 6073530
Abstract: A dual purpose rule guard for two-piece rotary cutting dies consists of a pair of confrontable allochiral guards. Each defines on its confronting surface a first portion thereof recessed inwardly therefrom and a second portion thereof projecting outwardly therefrom. The guards of the pair are interdigitable for assuming an interlocked position with respect to each other to insure the correct alignment of the cutting dies and of their rules. Additionally, each guard is so positioned relative to its cutting die that its second outwardly projecting portion projects outwardly of the confrontable edge or join line of the cutting die so that it functions as an overhang to keep the knife at the join line upwardly and away from any storage surface.

  • Patent number: 6065215
Abstract: A cutter wheel which can form a deep slit on an article to be cut so that the article can be broken easily along the slit and a perpendicular cut surface can be formed reliably when the article is broken along the slit. The cutter wheel is a disk-shaped member having a cutting edge along the outer edge and formed with a mounting hole extending therethrough along its axis. The mounting hole has an irregular shape so that the cutter wheel vibrates when it rolls due to steps between adjacent sides of the polygonal hole. The edge of the wheel can thus penetrate more deeply into the glass plate so that a deeper and smoother slit can be formed in the glass plate. This in turn makes it possible to more easily break the glass plate along the slit and to form a perpendicular cut surface.

  • Patent number: 6058609
Abstract: A knife holder includes two transparent plates, a plurality of partitioning blocks, a plurality of securing blocks, and a plurality of larger securing blocks. The partitioning blocks are spaced equi-distantly apart between the plates such that the plates define a receiving space. Upper ends of the plates are provided with a plurality of pairs of opposite indentations. The receiving space and the indentations are sized to receive knives. The knives are divided by the partitioning blocks so that they do not overlap. The partitioning blocks have front and rear ends forming bolt portions that pass through corresponding through holes in the plates for screwable engagement with the securing blocks so that the plates can be screwably secured on the partitioning blocks. The larger securing blocks are secured at two lower corners of each plate so that the knife holder can stand on a planar surface.

  • Patent number: 6019023
Abstract: The invention relates to a cutting machine for cutting a flexible material by a cutting wheel rotated by a motor. The cutting wheel and the motor are carried by a cutting head mounted to move horizontally along two orthogonal axes and to rotate about a vertical tangential servo-control axis. The invention further includes a support table covered with a mat into which the cutting wheel penetrates. The cutting wheel is adjustable to change the depth to which the cutting wheel penetrates into the mat. The cutting wheel is also adjustable to change the horizontal distance between the vertical tangential servo-control axis and the axis rotation of the cutting wheel so that the cutting wheel penetrates into the mat a front contact point situated in the vicinity of the tangential servo-control axis.

  • Patent number: 6014920
Abstract: In a paper-punching device for use in an image-forming apparatus, the rear edge of a sheet of paper that is being transported through a transport guide is detected by the photosensor. After a predetermined time has passed since the detection, a punching device is activated. At this time, a punching member is depressed downward, and a punching blade attached to its top penetrates through the sheet of paper, thereby forming a punch hole. Even during the punching operation, transport rollers continue to rotate. Therefore, when the sheet of paper is caught by the punching blade, the transport rollers are allowed to slip predetermined amount with respect to the paper. For this reason, at least one of the transport rollers is made of a foamed material. With this arrangement, since the punching operation is carried out on the rear side of the sheet of paper, it becomes possible to reduce the occurrence of paper jams even if sheets of paper are transported in succession.

  • Patent number: 6009787
Abstract: To manufacture orifice disks, polygonal workpieces are prefabricated and oblique holes are punched successively by positioning the polygonal workpieces in different angular positions between lateral stops on an inclined bearing surface of a fixed punch die. The workpiece is removed after punching a hole, arranged in the following angular position and positioned between the lateral stops in order to punch the following hole. The removal and positioning of the workpiece in different angular positions is repeated to provide the required arrangement of punched holes. A device for manufacturing orifice disks includes a punch, lateral stops, and an inclined bearing surface of a fixed die. Accordingly, the series production of orifice disks of multiple-orifice nozzles for fuel-injection engines is accomplished.
