  • Patent number: 8424840
Abstract: The invention relates to a valve cartridge for a solenoid valve having a capsule, a magnetic armature that is movably guided within the capsule, a valve insert inserted into the capsule at a first end, and a valve body, which is pressed into a second end of the valve insert, and having a main valve seat. The magnetic armature, moved by a generated magnetic force, moves a tappet that is guided within the valve insert. The tappet has a locking element which includes a sealing element which plunges into the main valve seat of the valve body in a sealing manner for carrying out a sealing function, and an associated solenoid valve. According to the invention, the valve insert is configured as a slotted bushing, having a collar integrated onto the second end of the valve insert in order to increase an outer diameter and a shape stability of the valve insert.

  • Patent number: 8424561
Abstract: A pressure regulator is capable of automatically regulating the inlet water pressure to a compressed air foam system (CAFS), thereby allowing direct connection between a high-pressure water source, such as a hydrant, and the CAFS. The pressure regulator includes an inlet, a valve that regulates flow from the inlet, and an annular piston that circumscribes the inlet and which is linked to the valve. The relative area of the inlet and the piston determine the maximum pressure that may be attained at the CAFS water inlet, due to pressure on the piston forcing the valve closed.

  • Patent number: 8376315
Abstract: Provided is a solenoid valve wherein control characteristics are prevented from deteriorating due to changes of magnetic characteristics of a magnetic circuit when a center post is contaminated, and the desired control characteristics are maintained for a long period of time. In the solenoid valve, a nonmagnetic layer (41) is formed on the surface of a center post (40) by electroless nickel-phosphorous plating or composite electroless nickel-phosphorous plating containing PTFE. Thus, contamination of the center post (40) is remarkably suppressed, the characteristics of the magnetic circuit for moving the plunger (30) by magnetic attraction are prevented from changing due to changes of magnetic permeability between the plunger (30) and the center post (40), the plunger (30) and a valve element (55) integrated with the plunger are suitably moved corresponding to a current applied to a coil (20), and the valve is opened/closed.

  • Patent number: 8322371
Abstract: A ball seat valve, use thereof, and method for controlling a valve assembly comprising a ball seat valve, wherein the valve body has a chamber and a plurality of inlet openings in the chamber. The inlet openings together have an inflow area leading into the chamber through which a medium can flow, and wherein the medium flows through said openings simultaneously as these are connected to one another in parallel. The valve has a seat with an outlet opening leading out of the chamber through the valve body, and wherein the outlet opening has an outflow area leading out of the chamber through which the medium can flow. Additionally, the valve has a ball which is situated in the chamber so as to be displaceable to open up or block the outlet opening. It is advantageous that the plurality of inlet openings comprise more than 10, especially more than 50, individual such inlet openings, resulting in a decrease in pressure between the inflowing medium outside and that inside the chamber.

  • Patent number: 8302624
Abstract: There is provided an apparatus for measuring a position of a linear type valve which is open/shut by operation of a hydraulic cylinder. More particularly, the apparatus more accurately measures a valve position by outputting a rotation angle of a rotation sleeve which rotates by being operatively connected to a hydraulic cylinder which moves linearly, and by calculating a vertical movement distance of a valve gate which changes in proportion to the rotation angle. Further, since the structure of the apparatus is very simple, the cost of production is significantly reduced. In addition, for use, the apparatus is installed on the hydraulic cylinder by a simple method.
