  • Patent number: 11441378
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting and/or milling of tubulars in a wellbore, especially using coiled tubing. An elongated main body has a longitudinal bore, with a piston slidably positioned in the bore. The piston is connected to one or more operating arms which are rotatably connected to the main body. The connection between the piston and the operating arms may be a pinned connection or a geared connection, both of which provide for a positive connection between the piston and the operating arms. Cutter bases are connected to the cutter arms, with a number of cutters mounted to the cutter bases. Fluid flow down the coiled tubing and through the main body bore pushes the piston downwardly, opening the operating arms and cutter bases and permitting the apparatus to be pulled up into the lower end of a tubular string for cutting and/or milling.

  • Patent number: 11421530
Abstract: A fluid sampling probe may include one or more features that increase the likelihood that a seal will be maintained during a sampling operation, even for sampling operations in unconsolidated formations. This may reduce contamination in formation fluid samples that are obtained during sampling operations. The fluid sampling probe may include a reinforcement ring configured to extend into a geological formation beyond an elastomer portion of the fluid sampling probe, which may support the geological formation and prevent a failure of the formation during sampling operations. The fluid sampling probe may also include a stop sleeve to prevent overextension that could otherwise cause the geological formation to collapse. In addition, the fluid sampling probe may include a relatively wider sealing elastomer that may decrease in height monotonically radially from the center of the fluid sampling probe.

  • Patent number: 11408274
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a fluid level sensing system for sensing a fluid level in a well. The system has an upper housing in communication with a lower housing, with the lower housing having a first bore in communication with a fluid in the well, and a second bore isolated from the first bore and in communication with at least one of a vacuum gauge or an external vacuum source. The upper and lower housings house a first flexible bag and a second flexible bag, with the first bag housed within the second bag. A portion of the first bag communicates with the first bore and is responsive to a change in pressure within the first bore caused by a changing fluid level in the well. A portion of the second bag communicates with the second bore and exerts a reference pressure on the first bag. A sensing subsystem senses expanding and contracting movement of the bags and generates a signal indicative of a change in a level of the fluid in the well.

  • Patent number: 11401760
Abstract: This system maintains bottom hole pressure and constant well bore pressure profile for a period of time in event of loss of power to rig pumps, rig pump failure or other loss of pressure to the primary flowline. The back pressure system diverts mud into the primary flowline to maintain pressure. The system provides time to get the diesel powered cement unit on line to maintain pressure or get the power reinstated to the rig pumps. The mud discharged into the primary flowline can be recovered back into the housing via the housing inlet line and the housing can be recharged via the N2 high pressure bottle rack. The back pressure system installs upstream of the MPD chokes with interfaces to the primary flow line to divert the drilling mud to the primary flowline.
