Abstract: A communication apparatus includes a receiver, a memory, a processor, and a transmitter. The receiver receives a route information frame and a first frame that is not the route information frame. The memory holds a route information table. The route information table records route information included in the route information frame. When the route information table does not include the source address of the first frame, the processor associates the source address with the address of a transfer-source apparatus that has transferred the first frame to the receiver, and registers these addresses in a registration table. In order to transmit a second frame addressed to a destination apparatus that is not recorded in the route information table, the processor obtains the address of a transfer-source apparatus registered in association with the address of the destination apparatus. The transmitter transmits the second frame to the address obtained by the processor.

  • Patent number: 9992671
Abstract: Embodiments of a mobile device and method for secure online sign-up and provisioning of credentials for Wi-Fi hotspots are generally described herein. In some embodiments, provisioning occurs using a service set identifier (SSID) to associate with a hotspot and retrieve a virtual LAN (VLAN) identifier. The VLAN identifier is used to complete the signup and provisioning process. In some embodiments, a hotspot may implement a primary SSID and a dependent SSID. The mobile device associates with the hotspot using the dependent SSID to perform the secure online signup and provisioning process. Once credentials are obtained using the signup and provisioning process, the device can connect to the hotspot using the primary SSID and the already provisioned credentials. The provisioned credentials may include certificates, username/password, or SIM-type credentials.

  • Patent number: 9871603
Abstract: A new method of performing interference estimation to allow the data packets to be efficiently delivered in an OFDM system. The interference estimation is performed on average over each frame for each mobile station individually in both frequency and time domains. Based on the estimated interference, the CIR can be determined by the BTS based on channel response estimates made by the BTS, or by the MS based on channel response estimates made for the uplink assuming a symmetrical channel. Numerical results show that the CIR estimation error could be very small if a sub-channel is considered as the minimum transmission unit. In terms of the aggregate throughput, the interference estimation method can provide a significant gain.

  • Patent number: 9872206
Abstract: Embodiments of a user station (STA) and methods for operating in a millimeter-wave basic service set (BSS) are generally described herein. In some embodiments, a STA transmits a request, using a first channel with a first bandwidth, for an allocation to communicate data on a second channel with a second bandwidth different from the first bandwidth. The request can include a directional multi-gigabit (DMG) traffic specification (TSPEC) element with a value representative of the second bandwidth. The STA may receive the allocation of the second bandwidth in an Extended Schedule element. The STA may transmit data on the second channel with the second bandwidth responsive to receiving the allocation.

  • Patent number: 9832263
Abstract: System, computer implemented process and computer program product for managing media content among a plurality of devices which includes the exchange of device status data among two or more devices. The exchanged device status data includes individual device capabilities and indicia of available media content stored within each of the devices. Each device determines from the exchanged device status data whether any differences exist in available media content stored among the plurality of devices and also whether any of the determined differences in media content will require transcoding to compatible data formats. Once the determinations have been completed, synchronizing and optionally transcoding of the available media content is performed based on the determinations made from the exchanged device status data. Any required transcoding may be performed either before or after media content synchronizing.

  • Patent number: 9819449
Abstract: A source node selects a plurality of original data components to transfer to at least one destination node. A plurality of transmitting nodes cooperatively encodes the original data components to generate a plurality of subspace coded components and a corresponding code matrix. Each of the transmitting nodes transmits a subset of the plurality of subspace coded components and corresponding code matrix, wherein at least one of the transmitting nodes has a rank that is insufficient for decoding the plurality of subspace coded components. A destination node may employ a plurality of receiving nodes to cooperatively receive a plurality of subspace coded components and their corresponding code vectors, wherein the rank of at least one of the receiving nodes is insufficient for decoding the subspace coded components. The destination node builds up the dimension of the subspace spanned by code vectors it collects from the receiving nodes and then decodes the subspace coded components.
