  • Patent number: 5642810
Abstract: A package for plastic bags in a roll includes a container/dispenser in the general form of an upright cylinder of clear semi-rigid plastic having two halves hinged about a diametrical edge at the bottom of the container. Feet are formed in the bottom wall, extending transverse to the hinge and cooperating with the hinge to provide a base support so that the package may be stored and displayed in an upright position. An elongated recess is formed in the cylindrical wall of the container, with a die-cut strip. Bags may be dispensed through the opening formed when the strip is removed. A printed insert is located inside the clear sidewall of the containers for displaying product and brand identification information to the consumer.

  • Patent number: 5590778
Abstract: A double-sterile package for critical-use medical apparatus includes an inner first container including an outer boundary wall impervious to microorganisms and being closed except for defining a hole. A patch of gas-permeable micro-porous sheet material is secured to the outer boundary wall spanning and closing the hole. The gas-permeable sheet material is sufficient to exclude environmental microorganisms from entering the inner first container. The first container is received into and nested within a conformal second container also having a boundary wall impervious to microorganisms and being closed except for defining a hole. This hole of the second container is also closed by a patch of the gas-permeable micro-porous sheet material, and the holes of the first and second containers are in gas-flow communication with one another. The medical apparatus within the nested containers is sterilized by evacuation of air and introduction of a sterilizing gas via the gas-permeable patches.

  • Patent number: 5577614
Abstract: A combined shipping and dispensing package for fluid containers has an outer container and an internal packing. The internal packing has mating support members, each having a rib section with openings with extending, compliant jacket walls that form cavities to receive and support the fluid containers. Collar portions are formed in the rib section and upper cavity walls to provide support for dispensing conduits extending outwardly of the fluid containers. Compliant spacer walls extend laterally from the rib section to provide lateral support and shock absorption for the jacketed cavities. The package may be used for direct positioning of the fluid container dispensing conduits onto mating fluid receptacles on associated processing equipment without removing the fluid containers from the package.

  • Patent number: 5553708
Abstract: Packaging for shipping spent fluorescent tubes includes an external paperboard box lined with a plastic bag that encloses a pair of end pads positioned on opposite ends of an array of sleeves. The sleeves form discrete cells in which a spent fluorescent tube can be inserted for shipping. The end pads include foam that is pressed into the ends of the sleeves when the box is shut and confine the tubes to the sleeves in the event of breakage. The foam protects the plastic bag liner by accommodating electrical pins of the lamps and also clamps the lamps in relatively fixed positions while functioning as a shock absorber. The plastic bag is tied closed for shipping so that any mercury which issues from a broken lamp is largely confined to the bag. The packaging better retains mercury for disposition by a recycler, as opposed to release into the environment, and is arranged to serve the convenience of the user for encouraging recycling of fluorescent tubes.
