Abstract: (S)-.alpha.-fluoromethylhistidine, a potent, selective, mechanism-based inhibitor of mammalian histidine carboxylase, the enzyme responsible for biosynthesis of histamine in mammals, is useful in the treatment of asthma.
Abstract: A method and composition is described for treating neurological diseases such as migraine, by influencing the nerve cells. This is achieved by optimizing the ability of the nerve cell gliacytes to transport taurine and the ability of the nerve cells to absorb taurine, by the external supply of amino acids occurring normally in the body. Preferred compositions include taurine, L-carnitine, zinc gluconate and calcium glycerophosphate.
Abstract: The acute liver toxicity effects of paracetamol are reduced by co-formulating with ascorbic acid derivatives (ascorbate anion bioprecursors) which produce high liver concentrations of ascorbate anion after oral administration of the co-formulation. A suitable ascorbate anion bioprecursor is ascorbyl 6-palmitate.
