  • Patent number: 9319769
Abstract: Wireless headphones include left and right earphones connected by a cable. Each of the left and right earphones comprising a generally C-shaped body adapted to fit behind the user's ear, with a concave inner edge, a convex outer edge, a first end that is positioned generally adjacent the top of the user's ear and a second end positioned generally adjacent the bottom of the user's ear when the body is positioned behind the user's ear. A speaker having a sound tunnel associated therewith adapted to fit in the ear canal of the wearer; a resilient support extending forwardly and downwardly from the top end of the C-shaped body, the support normally supporting the speaker in a position which, when the C-shaped body behind the user's ear, is misaligned with the user's ear canal, but resiliently deflects to allow the sound tunnel to align with and be inserted into the user's ear canal, thereby resiliently biasing the C-shaped body against the user's head.

  • Patent number: 9319784
Abstract: A personal audio device includes an adaptive noise canceling (ANC) circuit that adaptively generates an anti-noise signal from a reference microphone signal and injects the anti-noise signal into the speaker or other transducer output to cause cancellation of ambient audio sounds. An error microphone is also provided proximate the speaker to provide an error signal indicative of the effectiveness of the noise cancellation. A secondary path estimating adaptive filter is used to estimate the electro-acoustical path from the noise canceling circuit through the transducer so that source audio can be removed from the error signal. Noise is injected so that the adaptation of the secondary path estimating adaptive filter can be maintained, irrespective of the presence and amplitude of the source audio. The noise is shaped by a noise shaping filter that has a response controlled in conformity with at least one parameter of the secondary path response.

  • Patent number: 9301069
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for generating an immersive three-dimensional sound space for searching audio. The system generates a three-dimensional sound space having a plurality of sound sources playing at a same time, wherein each of the plurality of sound sources is assigned a respective location in the three-dimensional sound space relative to one another, and wherein a user is assigned a current location in the three-dimensional sound space relative to each respective location. Next, the system receives input from the user to navigate to a new location in the three-dimensional sound space. Based on the input, the system then changes each respective location of the plurality of sound sources relative to the new location in the three-dimensional sound space.

  • Patent number: 9264547
Abstract: A method and system for allowing a calling party to send a voicemail message as a text message. A calling party leaves a voicemail message and that message is converted from voice to a text message. If the calling party wishes to confirm the conversion, the text message is then converted to a voicemail message. The converted voicemail message is presented to the calling party so that the calling party can review and edit the message. The calling party can review and edit any portion of the converted voicemail message. The edits of the voicemail message are applied and the voicemail message is converted to a new text message. If the calling party wishes to further review and edit the text message, it is converted to a new voicemail; otherwise the text message is sent to the called party.

  • Patent number: 9264004
Abstract: The present invention provides methods and systems for narrow bandwidth digital processing of an input audio signal. Particularly, the present invention includes a high pass filter configured to filter the input audio signal. A first compressor then modulates the filtered signal in order to create a partially processed signal. In some embodiments, a clipping module further limits the gain of the partially processed signal. A splitter is configured to split the partially processed signal into a first signal and a second signal. A low pass filter is configured to filter the first signal. A pass through module is configured to adjust the gain of the second signal. A mixer then combines the filtered first signal and the gain-adjusted second signal in order to output a combined signal. In some embodiments, a tone control module further processes the combined signal, and a second compressor further modulates the processed signal.

  • Patent number: 9253299
Abstract: Disclosed, in general, are devices that provide a substantially sound-tight chamber over a sound source while absorbing fields of sounds from the sound source. In general, the devices feature: an anechoic chamber that is configured to receive a sound source in a substantially sound-tight manner; and an anechoic channel that is in fluid communication with the ambient atmosphere. The anechoic chamber is adapted to capture air containing sound energy generated by the sound source, and distribute the air about an internal surface area on the inside of the chamber, wherein the internal surface area is sufficiently large to dampen or otherwise absorb the sound energy. Specifically, the secondary anechoic chamber collects air from in-between the first and second anechoic chambers around the perimeter of the mouth, in the low decibel environment away from the voice blast high decibel areas in front of the mouth.
