Patent number: 8038823Abstract: A peel ply conformable masking device for protectively overlying a pre-cleaned bonding surface of an adhesive attachment adapted for bonded affixation to a selected substrate, such as an adhesive attachment of the type disclosed in U.S. Pat. Nos. 5,013,391 and 6,773,780 having a bonding surface circumscribing a temporary attachment member for holding the attachment against the substrate for the duration of a bonding agent cure time. The bonding surface of the adhesive attachment is pre-cleaned as by sand blasting and/or etching, and the masking device comprising a peel-off film carrying a thin layer of a peel-off adhesive is placed thereover to prevent contamination thereof. The masking device includes at least one aperture surrounding the temporary attachment member, and further includes at least one outwardly protruding and easily grasped pull tab for facilitated peel-off separation from bonding surface immediately prior to bonded affixation to the selected substrate.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 2010Date of Patent: October 18, 2011Assignee: Physical Systems, Inc.Inventor: Charles G. Patent number: 7533710Abstract: Apparatus for applying tax stamps to individual cigarette packages of different cigarette cartons, having different height dimensions, comprises a cigarette carton height determination station, a cigarette carton opening station, a cigarette package tax stamp application station, a cigarette carton closing station, and a cigarette carton exit station. Each particular cigarette carton has its height dimension determined at the first cigarette carton height determination station, and the height dimension data is transmitted to a programmable logic controller (PLC). The programmable logic controller (PLC) automatically adjusts mechanisms located at the various stations in accordance with the height dimension data characteristic of each cigarette carton.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2001Date of Patent: May 19, 2009Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventors: Ronald Michalski, Michael J. Patent number: 7377990Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for securing to a metal support at least one microwave electronic module made on a substrate one of whose faces forms an earth plane. The process consists in depositing between the face forming the earth plane and the metal support, at least one strip of conducting adhesive at the level of the zones of breakage of the earth plane. The invention applies to the microwave field.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2001Date of Patent: May 27, 2008Assignee: Thomson LicensingInventors: Charline Guguen, GĂ©rard Haquet, Corinne Nicolas

Patent number: 6736918Abstract: A process for producing cards is provided, which can avoid exposure, on card surface, of unevennesses of components such as IC chips, capacitors and antenna coils mounted or formed on a mount substrate. This process comprises the steps of continuously feeding a mount substrate and simultaneously feeding a pair of sheet members on both surface sides of the mount substrate in such a manner that the mount substrate is interposed between the pair of sheet members; feeding an adhesive in fluid condition between each of the surfaces of the mount substrate and the sheet member opposite thereto; and regulating a distance between the pair of sheet members into a constant spacing and hardening the adhesive.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2001Date of Patent: May 18, 2004Assignee: Lintec CorporationInventors: Akira Ichikawa, Kenichi Watanabe

Patent number: 6616795Abstract: A heat sealing jaw (10), particularly for use in a form-fill-seal machine for the sealing of plastics bags incorporating a zipper seal, comprises a plurality of spaced heat sealing wires (12) in its active surface and a plurality of pressure switches (13) underlying the wires. When the jaw is moved into contact with the zipper and an overlying host material the zipper imparts pressure to a switch or switches and this effects heating of a predetermined wire or wires to create the seal at the correct position. Thus, the seal is made at the correct position even if the position of the zipper on the host material should change. A pair of aligned jaws (10) are preferably used, one on each side of the host material.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2001Date of Patent: September 9, 2003Assignee: Supreme Plastics Holding LimitedInventor: Murray Edward Bruce Leighton
