Abstract: Computer-implemented methods for visually scrolling through a stack of items displayed on a device by tilting the device are provided. In one aspect, a method includes determining a neutral reference point for a device, and receiving input indicating a tilting motion from the neutral reference point encountered by the device. The method also includes determining an angular displacement value of the device and a bias factor based on the tilting motion. The angular displacement value is indicative of an angular displacement of the device based on the tilting motion. The method also includes visually scrolling through the stack of items based on the angular displacement value and the bias factor. Systems and machine-readable media are also provided.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes a memory; and a processor coupled to the memory, wherein the processor executes a process includes, detecting flick operation in a text area where an input character string is displayed, determining a direction of the detected flick operation, selecting, when the flick operation is performed in a predetermined direction, characters the number of which is according to a length of the flick operation from the character string located at a starting position of the flick operation, storing the selected characters in a finger recording buffer, obtaining, when the flick operation is performed in a direction reverse to the predetermined direction, the number of characters according to the length of the flick operation from the finger recording buffer, and outputting the obtained characters to the starting position of the flick operation in the text area.

Abstract: A method for managing user schedule and a device using the same are provided. The information stored in an external device is received and added to an existing user schedule. Accordingly, it is possible to integrally manage the user schedules scattered at different locations, and provide improved convenience of using user schedules.

Where a failure of a memory module in the memory system occurs, methods for recovering the data of the failed module are disclosed which may selected in accordance with policies that may relate to the minimizing the possibility of irretrievable data loss, or degradation of latency performance.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses and systems directed to summarizing video or other multimedia content based on the blogging activities of one or more users. In one implementation, a user may select a video and one or more blogs that annotate various segments of the video. A user may specify one or more desired attributes of the blog or comment entries, which a system processes to create an edit decision list. The edit decision list can be used to generate a summarized version of the multimedia content that includes the content segments associated with blog entries that meet the desired attributes.

Abstract: A method can include displaying a user interface on a display of a mobile device. The user interface can include a scrollable payroll data section with multiple selectable fields and a data entry section configured to accept input of payroll data for the multiple fields. The method can further include simultaneously displaying the scrollable payroll data section and the data entry section and, in response to an input, simultaneously scrolling through one or more of the multiple selectable fields of the payroll data section while maintaining the payroll data section in place. In one embodiment, a forward button in a browser may become a predictive forward button when the user is at the end of a history stack. By selecting the predictive forward button, the user may access predictive content, such as content related to one or more pages viewed during the current browsing session. In some embodiments, the user can sequentially select the predictive forward button any number of times to iteratively explore new content, such as content that is related to other content viewed during the current session.

Abstract: A graphical user interface (GUI) is disclosed that allows user to quickly find and select (assign) specific items from a large data source that is housed in the cloud. The GUI includes a first and second grid that display unassigned and assigned items, respectively. Each of the first and second grids allows the user to filter each grid by typing in the search criteria and forwarding the criteria to the server. Items in each of the first and second grids may be moved between the two grids to quickly change the assigned state of moved items.
