  • Patent number: 8800512
Abstract: A camshaft adjuster which has a locking device by which a drive input and drive output part can be rotationally fixedly locked in a locking rotational position. The locking device has a multiplicity of engagement pairs which include one axial bar which is held in the drive input or drive output part and a bar slot which is formed in the respective other part. The engagement pairs are designed such that, during an adjustment of the drive output part in the drive direction, the bars can be placed in successive engagement with the bar slots in a relative rotational position between an end rotational position, which lags behind in the drive direction, and the locking rotational position. The bar slots prevent an adjustment of the drive output part counter to the drive direction and permit an adjustment in the drive direction until the locking rotational position is reached.

  • Patent number: 8794206
Abstract: An engine valve system comprises two cams (10,12) mounted coaxially, a summation rocker (14) coupled to followers (16,18) of both cams and movable in proportion to the instantaneous sum of the lifts of the respective cams, and a valve actuating rocker (20) pivotably coupled to the summation rocker (14) and operative to open an engine valve (22) in dependence upon the movement of the summation rocker (14). In the invention, the actuating rocker (20) rests on a hydraulic lash adjuster (24). A control spring (136) is provided to urge the summation rocker (14) in a direction to compress the hydraulic lash adjuster (24). A stop (138) associated with the control spring (136) limits the movement of the summation rocker (14) towards the lash adjuster (24) so as to set the clearance in the valve system when the valve (22) is closed and the cam followers (16,18) are on the base circles of the two cams (10,12).

  • Patent number: 8776745
Abstract: A variable valve timing apparatus includes a stopper piston which has an equalizing passage in an axial direction. Even if the engaging hole is filled with the oil, the equalizing passage enables the oil flows from an engaging hole to a holding hole when the stopper piston enters into the engaging hole. It is possible to form a vane as narrow as possible, and to enlarge a variable angular range. In addition, the stopper piston has both end faces which are substantially identical in surface area. Even if pulsation arises in oil pressure, pressures acting on both end faces of the stopper piston can be substantially cancelled and position of the stopper piston can be stabilized.
