  • Patent number: 4709472
Abstract: In a method of manufacturing a spiral electrode assembly, a first electrode member of one polarity is covered with a separator, and the separator is extended forward beyond the leading end of the first electrode member to form an extension consisting of the separator only. This separator extension is inserted into a slot formed in a spool and is wound around the spool. After the separator extension has been wound by the length more than the length of the circumference of the spool, a second electrode member of opposite polarity is inserted in such a relation that the leading end of the first electrode member is located rear relative to that of the second electrode member. The spool is rotated to wind the two electrode members separated by the separator therearound, and the spool is then withdrawn to provide the spiral electrode assembly.

  • Patent number: 4708302
Abstract: A mode switching over gear mechanism for reel according to this invention is characterized in that a reel brake is disposed at the outside of the fast forward gear and the rewinding gear, respectively; a preload brake is disposed at the inside of the fast forward gear and the rewinding gear, respectively; and the control of the preload brake is effected by the same member as the control of the take-up gear effecting the mode switching over at the play, which member is different from the member for the control of the reel brake.Owing to this construction, since the preload brake is released at the same time as the mode switching over by the engagement of the take-up gear, no infructuous load is applied thereto.

  • Patent number: 4706861
Abstract: Web feeding apparatus which may be in the form of a tractor which feeds perforated webs, such as perforated paper in a computer printer, typewriter or the like has a frame which locates a belt having pins projecting from the belt which enter the perforations in the paper and drive the paper when the belt is driven, as by a sprocket which is journalled in the frame. In the closed position, the lid overlies the belt and presents a surface adjacent the belt which is separated by a gap through which the paper passes when it is engaged with the pins. The paper also overlies the surface of the inside side plate. The gap spacing (the distance which separates the surface of the belt on which the paper is disposed) is set automatically by a gap setting member which projects from the lid and is biased with the lid into engagement with the paper when the lid is in closed position and the belt is in driving relationship with the paper.

  • Patent number: 4684075
Abstract: A paper roll dispenser is provided within a housing adapted to be wall mounted. The dispenser comprises a vertically disposed open ended tube mounted inside the housing which is adapted to receive a plurality of rolls of paper. The bottom end of the tube is laterally spaced from the floor of the housing by a distance greater than the height of a roll of paper. The first lever is mounted and biased to a position directly underneath the bottom of the housing to prevent rolls of paper in storage from falling out of the tube, but is pivotal about a vertical axis to clear the bottom of the tube and thus allow a new roll of paper to drop down. A second lever is spaced a distance up the tube to pass into a slot defined in the tube at a level intersecting the second roll of paper from the bottom of the tube. The second lever is biased to clear the tube but is pivotal about a vertical axis to enter the aperture.
