  • Patent number: 9380304
Abstract: An example embodiment may involve obtaining an a×b pixel macro-cell from an input image. Pixels in the a×b pixel macro-cell may have respective pixel values and may be associated with respective tags. It may be determined whether at least e of the respective tags indicate that their associated pixels represent edges in the input image. Based on this determination, either a first encoding or a second encoding of the a×b pixel macro-cell may be selected. The first encoding may weigh pixels that represent edges in the input image heavier than pixels that do not represent edges in the input image, and the second encoding might not consider whether pixels represent edges. The selected encoding may be performed and written to a computer-readable output medium.

  • Patent number: 9367772
Abstract: A calibration target is printed by means of a printing device comprising a plurality of groups of printheads. The printheads of each group are fed with ink of the same color. The calibration target includes a plurality of colored zones that are intended to be subsequently processed. The printheads of each group further generate a series of control zones with the same nominal quantity of the corresponding ink. The control zones are free of overlapping between inks applied by different printheads. A parameter of each control zone is measured and the measured values of this parameter are compared to each other in order to assess whether the control zones exhibit print anomalies.

  • Patent number: 9361557
Abstract: This invention obtains a high-quality output image in which a jaggy or a disconnection of a thin line hardly stands out. An edge detection unit detects whether the pixel of interest is an edge pixel or a non-edge pixel. A screen processing unit performs screen processing for the pixel of interest to determine the output value of the N-level tone. A calculation unit performs filtering processing having a preset visual sense characteristic for an area including the pixel of interest to calculate the target value of the pixel of interest, and corrects the value of the pixel of interest so as to come close to the target value, thereby determining the output value of the N-level tone. The selector selects, according to the detection result by the edge detection unit, either the result from the calculation unit or that from the screen processing unit.

  • Patent number: 9344605
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for closed-loop color correction based on a multidimensional table, and belongs to printing device correction methods in the field of image hardcopy. The method comprises a step of performing loop color correction for color conversion based on a multidimensional look-up table, wherein a mapping relationship is established between a set of input dots and a set of output dots using a multidimensional look-up table in the color conversion. With the method and system of this invention, for different combinations of papers, printing inks and devices, a color conversion may be corrected to a more accurate extent, getting a chromatic aberration and a visual appearance closer to that of a target color, so as to achieve the purpose of color consistency management.
