  • Patent number: 4697789
Abstract: A monolithic block, preferably singularly constructed of moderately resiliently compressible and flexible resinous material, has a generally horizontal base surface, two angular ends including a left-wedge of about 30.degree. to 40.degree. and a right-wedge of about 10.degree. to 20.degree., and an upper-medial surface terminating at fulcrums alternatively abuttable against an automobile door pane. Selectable employment of an angular end will wedge sufficient space between the transparent fragile pane and the opaque casing of an automobile door to permit insertion of some conventional locksmith's probing tool for unlocking the automobile door, and without appreciable danger of cracking or damaging the fragile door pane.

  • Patent number: 4698837
Abstract: An armboard mounting assembly including an armboard having a proximate and a distal end, an armboard mount, and a joint for pivotably interconnecting the armboard and the armboard mount for enabling rotation of the armboard about a pivot axis. The rotatable armboard and armboard mount have at least one pair of adjacent sections, and the assembly further includes friction members (or alternate grippers) for providing gripping between said adjacent sections, said friction members being responsive to a downward force on the armboard between the pivot axis and the distal end for increasing gripping between the adjacent sections and inhibiting relative rotation about the pivot axis. Depending on the materials used, the armboard mounting assembly is radiologically translucent, NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance)-compatible, or both.

  • Patent number: 4686753
Abstract: A machine for connecting successive rows of coil springs together into a coil spring assembly. The machine, in preferred form, initially picks up a row of coil springs by inserting a pick up finger into the barrel of each coil and moving the springs onto a support platen. In the course of transporting the coils between pick up and the support platen, the pick up fingers change the spacing of the coils. The springs are then compressed against the support platen to a desired height through use of a reciprocable compression bar. Thereafter, and through use of rotatable transfer fingers on a transfer shaft, the springs are removed from under the compression bar, and are moved into clamping dies. Leading rotary transfer fingers on the transfer shaft first pull the row of springs out from under the compression bar, and trailing rotary fingers then push the springs into the downstream one of upper and lower clamping dies.
