  • Patent number: 11265737
Abstract: There is provided mechanisms for shaping cells in a wireless communications network. A method is performed by a network node. The method comprises obtaining spatial channel characteristics of a set of currently and/or previously served terminal devices in the wireless communications network, wherein the spatial channel characteristics are indicative of a current collective first network performance metric value for the set of currently and/or previously served terminal devices. The method comprises identifying, using the spatial channel characteristics, those terminal devices of the set of currently and/or previously served terminal devices that have an individual second network performance metric value below a threshold value by comparing the individual second network performance metric value for each of the currently and/or previously served terminal devices to the threshold value.

  • Patent number: 11265787
Abstract: The performance and ease of management of wireless communications environments is improved by a mechanism that enables access points (APs) to perform automatic channel selection. A wireless network can therefore include multiple APs, each of which will automatically choose a channel such that channel usage is optimized. Furthermore, APs can perform automatic power adjustment so that multiple APs can operate on the same channel while minimizing interference with each other. Wireless stations are load balanced across APs so that user bandwidth is optimized. A movement detection scheme provides seamless roaming of stations between APs.

  • Patent number: 11212650
Abstract: Device-free localization for smart indoor environments within an indoor area covered by wireless networks is detected using active off-the-shelf-devices would be beneficial in a wide range of applications. By exploiting existing wireless communication signals and machine learning techniques in order to automatically detect entrance into the area, and track the location of a moving subject within the sensing area a low cost robust long-term tracking system can be established. A machine learning component is established to minimize the need for user annotation and overcome temporal instabilities via a semi-supervised framework. After establishing a robust base learner mapping wireless signals to different physical locations from a small amount of labeled data; during its lifetime, the learner automatically re-trains when the uncertainty level rises significantly. Additionally, an automatic change-point detection process is employed setting a query for updating the outdated model and the decision boundaries.

  • Patent number: 11212679
Abstract: A wearable device can establish a verified session with a host device (e.g., by establishing that the wearable device is present in the vicinity of the host device and is currently being worn). The existence of such a verified session can be used to control user access to sensitive information that may be stored in or otherwise accessible to a host device. For example, the host device and/or application programs executing thereon can be configured to restrict a user's ability to invoke program functionality that accesses sensitive information based on whether a verified session with a wearable device is currently in progress.

  • Patent number: 11190956
Abstract: Embodiments herein describe association rules (e.g., affinity and anti-affinity rules) that a wireless device can use to optimize its performance in a Wi-Fi network. While BSS coloring is typically used to eliminate color collisions, the embodiments herein use BSS coloring to define what BSS colors should be on the same channel and which should not. For example, an affinity rule can indicate that a wireless device assigned a first BSS color (e.g., red) can share the same channel with wireless devices (or BSSs) assigned a second BSS color (e.g., green). In contrast, an anti-affinity rule can indicate that a wireless device in the red BSS color cannot share a channel with a wireless device assigned to a third BSS color (e.g., blue). The embodiments herein permit the wireless devices to be grouped with, or separated from, wireless devices having different BSS colors.

  • Patent number: 11160011
Abstract: A method and apparatus for acquiring system information (SI) in a wireless communication system is provided. When a user equipment (UE) moves to a (neighbor) cell and if the UE have stored system information with same system information area code (SAC), the UE reuses the stored system information (SI) and skip acquiring whole system information blocks (SIBs). If the UE does not have matched SAC, the UE checks existence of any delta SI scheduling configuration which means that a group of SI message is to be update based on the stored information. If a SI message supporting delta configuration is broadcast at a cell and if the SI message includes a parameter which UE has previously stored, the UE replaces the stored parameter by the parameter received from the SI message.

  • Patent number: 11153712
Abstract: Various implementations monitor a parent geofence that geographically encompasses a plurality of child geofences, each respective child geofence of the child geofences associated with a respective physical location within the parent geofence. One or more implementations receive location data that indicates a current location of a mobile device. In turn, the current location can be used to determine that the mobile device has entered a particular child geofence of the plurality of child geofences. In response to determining that the mobile device has entered the particular child geofence, one or more implementations select an application configuration for a mobile application on the mobile device, where the application configuration corresponds to the particular child geofence. One or more implementations transmit the application configuration to the mobile device effective to alter a functionality of the mobile application at the mobile device based on the current location.

  • Patent number: 11146975
Abstract: A method performed by a network node for selecting a System Information Area Identity, SI Area ID, for a first cell in a wireless communications network. The network node obtains (202) information about SI configurations of one or more respective cells in a set of cells relevant to the first cell. The network node determines (203) a set of candidate SI Area IDs for the first cell. The network node then calculates (204) a value of a utility function for each respective SI Area ID candidate in the set of candidate SI Area IDs based on the obtained information about the SI configurations of the one or more respective cells in the set of cells relevant to the first cell. The network node then selects (205) an SI Area ID for the first cell from the set of candidate SI Area IDs based on the calculated utility function values, which selected SI Area ID is for configuration of the first cell.

  • Patent number: 11129126
Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to a method performed by a first communication node (110; 121) for determining the position (of a second communication node (122) in a wireless communications network (100). The first communication node (110; 121) transmits a timing measurement message to the second communication node (122) as a beamformed transmission based on channel sounding feedback information received from the second communication node (122). The first communication node (110; 121) also receives an acknowledgement message from the second communication node (122) for the timing measurement message in the beamformed transmission. Furthermore, the first communication node (110; 121) determines the position of the second communication node (122) at least partly based on a transmission time of the timing measurement message and a reception time of the acknowledgement message. Embodiments of the first communication node (110; 121) are also described. Embodiments herein also relate to a second communication.

  • Patent number: 11115913
Abstract: In a wireless communication core network, an Application Function (AF) make an analysis request for a mobility analytics report of a UE, which includes first UE mobility information of the UE. In the wireless communication core network, a Network Data Analysis Function (NWDAF) obtains an identity of an Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF) serving the UE from a Unified Data Management (UDM), on its own or via a Network Exposure Function (NEF), based on the request. Then, the NWDAF obtains second UE mobility information of the UE from the AMF according to the identity of the AMF, and generates and transmits the mobility analytics report to the AF according to the first and second UE mobility information.

  • Patent number: 11109302
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media can be operable to facilitate an exchange of messages between an access point and a station, wherein the access point requests a unique identifier from the station. The station may either respond with a message declining to provide a unique identifier or respond with a message including a unique identifier to be used by the access point for the station. The response from the station may include additional limitations on the use of the unique identifier by the access point. The access point may enforce different policies against a station depending upon how the station responds to the unique identifier request.
