  • Patent number: 4607417
Abstract: An urn-like cannister for storing and transporting cremated remains, preferably of a molded plastic material, includes a pliable lid with sealing edges for enclosure of the remains in a substantially water and air tight environment. The cannister has a flanged portion around its top periphery and tapered locking tabs outwardly extending on its sidewalls and in spaced relationship to the cannister flange. The cannister is adapted to be inserted into one of an array of like openings formed in a niche plate, of a type having a recessed flange surrounding each niche opening. Upon insertion, the flange and locking tabs of the cannister engage opposing surfaces of the niche plate flange to securely hold the cannister in place. The niche plate opening is then closed by a scroll plate which is attached to the niche plate by threaded tamper proof fasteners.

  • Patent number: 4603745
Abstract: Reversing mechanism, particularly for semi-reversible ploughs, where the reversing mechanism includes hydraulic reversing cylinders (10, 11). The reversing mechanism, or device (5) to be reversed, includes a lifting arm (8) which at its one end is rotatably supported at a point (9) which the reversing mechanism turns about, and which at its other end is fastened to the device (5) to be reversed. The reversing cylinders (10, 11) have approximately the same volume and approximately the same length of stroke and are affixed symmetrically to the lifting arm (8). The piston rods of the reversing cylinders (10, 11) are rotatably attached (15, 19) with one end of a pressure arm (17, 18) whose other end is rotatably fixed to the point (9) about which the reversing mechanism rotates.

  • Patent number: 4601347
Abstract: A direction of movement sensing apparatus is shiftably supported from the wheel track filling structure of a wheeled support tower for an irrigation pipe and is operative to shift between a first inoperative position assumed thereby when the tower is moving in a forward direction toward a second operative position relative to the wheel track filling structure when the tower is moved rearwardly over the ground. Connecting structure is provided and operatively connected between the direction sensing apparatus, the wheel track filling structure and the tower for raising the wheel track filling structure responsive to movement of the sensing apparatus to the second operative position thereof and thus enabling the tower to move rearwardly without damage to the wheel track filling structure.

  • Patent number: 4600070
Abstract: A modular hitch unit is attached to a lawn and garden tractor and then to a tiller. The hitch unit includes hitching mechanisms as well as hand-operable belt adjustment mechanisms for positioning and adjusting the tension of a drive belt. A lever is operated to pivot a countersprung idler pulley to allow the belt to be placed in its operating position. A knob is then turned to adjust the pivotable position of a second idler pulley to control the tension of the belt. The idler pulleys can be switched and the belt remounted to change the direction in which a set of tiller tines are driven.

  • Patent number: 4596290
Abstract: A forwardly folding agricultural machine, such as a row crop implement (e.g., planter), including three basic sections, one of which is a rear, central section and the other two of which are respectively right and left wing sections. In operating mode, the wing sections lie at opposite sides of a central hitch and are transversely alined on a line offset forwardly of the rear section. In transport mode, the wing sections fold forwardly, one at each side of the drawbar. The wheels for the sections are arranged so that they do not intervene among the tools, thus enabling easier lateral adjustment of the tools as to row spacing, especially when it is desired to obtain extra narrow spacing.

  • Patent number: 4593766
Abstract: A crawler tractor with a dozer blade and fitted with accessories to loosen the ground in the strafing pit area of an Air Force gunnery range and simultaneously remove from the ground rocks the size of a man's fist and larger and spent projectiles. The tractor is provided with an electromagnet positioned ahead of the dozer blade. Positioned to the rear of the tractor, and pivotally attached to its frame by drawbars, is a chisel bar with a plurality of chisel blades. Just ahead of the chisel bar is a rock rake having a spine from which extend a plurality of forwardly projecting tines. The rake is supported with its tines at such an angle that their tips barely scrape the surface of the earth. Ahead of the rock rake, there is a drag consisting of a section of railroad rail suspended from the drawbars of the chisel assembly at a height sufficient to just scrape the surface of the ground during operation of the tractor.

  • Patent number: 4592429
Abstract: A two-way gang plow is provided with a pair of front steering wheels muonted for steering adjustment relative to a pivoted front axle. The steering mechanism for the wheels is coupled to a steerable tail wheel through master and slave hydraulic cylinders in such manner that when a towing tractor turns in one direction the master cylinder moves with the turning of the front wheels and supplies hydraulic fluid pressure to the slave cylinder to operate the latter and turn the tail wheel in the direction opposite the turning direction of the front wheels. During roll-over from one operative side to the other, a lever mechanism is operated to turn the axle to correspond with the operative set of plow bottoms. Also, the plow bottoms are mounted pivotally on the plow frames and interconnected by parallel linkages for simultaneous adjustment of the lateral spacing between land sides of adjacent plow bottoms.

  • Patent number: 4591001
Abstract: A toolbar attachment assembly for a rear tine rotary tiller having a tine guard and forward wheels. The toolbar attachment assembly is secured to the tiller in place of the drag stake. A V-shaped brace allows for the assembly to be attached without removing either the tines or the tine guard. A toolbar secured to the V-shaped brace allows for the releasable attachment of an extension which supports tools such as plows outwardly of the toolbar for the laying off of rows and for throwing dirt to cover weeds in established rows of plants.

  • Patent number: 4585072
Abstract: An improved tool for removing weeds and for planting plugs of grass is provided with an elongated, upright sleeve having a hollow chamber at the lower extremity thereof. A plunger is operated to pass through the chamber by means of an elongated handle extending upwardly through the sleeve. The plunger is positioned over weeds or other undesirable vegetation and the walls of the chamber are pushed into the soil to surround the root system of the weeds and to define a plug of soil. The tool is then lifted from the soil, carrying with it the weed with the plug of soil containing the root system of the weed intact. The handle is operated to push the plunger through the hollow chamber to eject the plug of soil and the weeds carried therewith.

  • Patent number: 4585020
Abstract: A self-contained tent includes a flat rectangular case which can be freely opened or closed. A tent sheet and a plurality of substantially U-shaped frame pipes are held in the case. The two ends of each frame pipe are pivotally supported in the case through a pair of supports. When the tent sheet is held in the case, the sheet covers the frame pipes. An edge of the tent sheet is attached to the edge of the case through a seal element, and the frame pipes are fastened at predetermined inner surface positions of the tent sheet.

  • Patent number: 4582143
Abstract: A forwardly-folding, tractor-drawn agricultural implement featuring a rear center frame and a pair of wing sections that may selectively occupy operating positions in which they are horizontally and transversely alined with each other but alined in that manner forwardly of the center, rear section. This rear section carries no agricultural tools and serves basically as a rear rolling support for the implement in both its operating position and in a transport position in which the wing sections are folded forwardly along opposite sides of a central telescopic tongue or hitch by means of which the rear section is connected to and supported on a tractor. When the implement is in its transport or folded position, the overall length of the machine may be shortened to bring the rear support wheels closer to the tractor.
