  • Patent number: 10123197
Abstract: A call to an emergency call center from a device is initiated utilizing a relay service. The device may send a non-voice message to the relay service. The relay service, upon receipt and analysis of the message, may initiate a call to the device. The device, upon receiving the call and determining that the call is from the relay service, may place the call on hold and initiate a call to an emergency call center. Subsequently, the device may establish a multi-party call between the device, the relay service, and the emergency call center. Further, the relay service may maintain multiple communications modes in order to conduct non-voice messages with the device and conduct voice communications with the emergency call center.

  • Patent number: 10056963
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing temporary cell coverage using lighter than air reflectors. The system can include a balloon or airship (e.g., a blimp) with a reflective lower surface. A ground-based source antenna can be aimed at the balloon to bounce cellular, or other communications, signals off the balloon and then back to the ground. The system can provide additional wireless coverage and bandwidth in remote locations and/or areas of high demand. The coverage area of the system can be adjusted by changing the shape of the bottom surface of the balloon. The coverage area of the system can also be adjusted by changing the height of the balloon above the source antenna. A dedicated source antenna and balloon can also serve as a microwave backhaul antenna system for a temporary cell site, using a balloon with a reflective surface shaped to collimate the radio link in a desired direction.

  • Patent number: 10034183
Abstract: The described features generally relate to determining dynamic signal quality criteria for an installation of satellite terminals for communications in a satellite communications system. In particular, the signal quality criteria for an installation may be based on an identified position of the satellite terminal to be installed, and in some examples based on the positions and signal characteristics of neighboring satellite terminals that have already been installed. In some examples, a signal quality map may be generated for a service beam coverage area, based on predetermined transmission characteristics and/or measured transmissions from a number of satellite terminals served by a communications satellite. The generated signal quality map may then be used to determine a signal quality threshold for the installation of a satellite terminal being installed for communications in a satellite communications system.

  • Patent number: 10027710
Abstract: A node is provided that includes a home base station collocated with a local gateway (L-GW) providing access to a local Internet Protocol (IP) network. The node performs an establishment procedure with a security gateway (SeGW), and discriminates a packet. The node uses a first interface configured at the L-GW and a second interface which is configured between the home base station and a gateway for the home base station. The first and second interfaces are tunneled through a same IP security (IPsec) tunnel opened between the home base station and the SeGW. The home base station for the first interface uses a first IP address that is either same as or different from a second IP address used by the home base station for the second interface. The node uses either distinct ranges of Tunnel Endpoint Identifiers (TEIDs) or the first and second IP addresses to discriminate the packet.
