  • Patent number: 5802499
Abstract: A computer-based information network for managing credit exposure between counterparties to a plurality of credit support agreements. The network comprises information storage and processing systems. The systems store various types of information including information representative of assets of counterparties to a plurality of credit support agreements for use in covering credit exposures therebetween over a specified time period, and the plurality of credit support agreements. The systems process the information representative of the assets in order to effectively reflect a movement of certain of the assets to cover the credit exposures over the specified time period. An asset movement optimization process is used for determining an optimal movement of certain of said assets to cover credit exposures over the specified time period.

  • Patent number: 5797134
Abstract: A method and system of determining a cost of automobile insurance based upon monitoring, recording and communicating data representative of operator and vehicle driving characteristics. The cost is adjustable retrospectively and can be prospectively set by relating the driving characteristics to predetermined safety standards. The method comprises steps of monitoring a plurality of raw data elements representative of an operating state of the vehicle or an action of the operator. Selected ones of the raw data elements are recorded when the ones are determined to have an identified relationship to safety standards. The selected ones are consolidated for processing against an insurer profile and for identifying a surcharge or discount to be applied to a base cost of automobile insurance. A final cost is produced from the base costs and the surcharges or discounts.

  • Patent number: 5794220
Abstract: The present invention provides a computerized method for ranking items based upon the interrelationship of the volumes and revenues and payment methodologies of items sold. First a base rank value is determined based upon the measured distribution of item volume, item revenue and the payor methodology mix. A weighted value is then determined by the computer system for each item by high and low assigned values which are then normalized and sorted to provide a normalized ranking. The pricing of each item is based upon the normalized ranking. The method of the present invention is used to determine what items should increase in price, what items should decrease in price, and what items should remain constant according to each item's relative value to net income.

  • Patent number: 5761645
Abstract: Upon the death of an insured, a system releases gift payments to designated beneficiaries on designated dates over a period of years (e.g. ten years.) As part of the policy, the insured may select a message to be sent to the beneficiaries with the gift payments. In a preferred embodiment, the user selects the amount of gift payments, which must be divisible by $25. In a preferred embodiment, 1 unit=$100 in gift payments for 10 years. The insurer develops a premium table or other mechanism to designate a premium for each unit based on the age and sex of the insured. The insured provides the insurer with name and address of the beneficiaries, the date on which payment is to be made, and the amount. This information is stored in a data base. Prior to the insured's death, the insured's account is in living status. While in living status, a computer determines that premiums are paid, if any are due. Once the insured dies, insured's account is updated to a deceased status.
