Abstract: Improved high temperature resistant molding materials containing customary filler materials and additives and a carbon forming bonding agent which is a phenol novolac with a molar ratio of phenol to formaldehyde of 1 to 0.2 to 1 to 0.35 of high quality and free of solvents useful as refractory products, carbon materials, abrasive wheels, friction lining and the like.

Abstract: An improved method for the preparation of cross-linked polycarbonates is disclosed, comprising the reaction at elevated temperature of a composition containing cyclic carbonate oligomers with at least one polyglycidyl acrylate copolymer formed by the reaction of at least one olefin with a glycidyl acrylate monomer. This invention also includes network polycarbonates wherein the carbonate chains are linked to each other via polyglycidyl acrylate copolymer groups. Further included within the scope of this invention are prepreg compositions which comprise a filler and a mixture of cyclic carbonate oligomers with a polyglycidyl acrylate copolymer.
Abstract: Flame retardant aromatic polycarbonate compositions are provided resulting from the use of certain poly(arylene silicon) materials in combination with aromatic polycarbonates. Included among the poly(arylene silicon) materials are aromatic polyester silioxanes, aromatic polyimide siloxanes and aromatic polysilphenylenes.

Abstract: A rubber-modified phenolic resin composition contains a novolak-type phenolic resin in which at least one modifying agent selected from the group consisting of an ABS resin and an MBS resin is homogeneously dispersed. The composition has good impact resistance and thermal shock resistance. The composition is prepared by adding at least one modifying agent described above to a novolak-type phenolic resin which is heated and melted at its softening point or more, so that the modifying agent is homogeneous dispersed in the resin. The resin composition is suitably used as a curing agent for an epoxy resin encapsulant for sealing electronic devices.
