  • Patent number: 6563475
Abstract: A mounting assembly for affixing an antenna platform or mounting arm to a pole. The mounting assembly includes a plurality of clamps for positioning about the circumference of the pole. The preferred embodiment uses three clamps and each of the clamps has a pole mounting surface contoured to mount securely to a variety of pole circumferences. The mounting assembly also includes a plurality of interconnection members extending between the clamps for securing the clamps to the pole. In the embodiment shown, each of the clamps includes a pair of identical spaced apart side plates. The side plates include connecting extensions for attachment of the interconnection members. The clamps include reinforcing plates attached to the connecting extensions, and the reinforcing plates having apertures for receiving the interconnection members. The mounting assembly also includes a middle support plate attached to and interconnecting each pair of side plates.

  • Patent number: 6486841
Abstract: With the object of a single worker being able to mount an automobile antenna, side plates of a board bracket 9 with fixing plate are inserted into a rectangular hole formed in the base portion 3 so that [the side plates] are located on the opposite side surfaces of a rectangular projecting portion projecting from the bottom surface of the base portion 3. Spring pieces 4a are formed on these side plates. When the cylindrical projecting portion 13 extending from the rectangular projecting portion is inserted in the mounting hole formed in the roof panel, the spring pieces 4a formed on the side plates pass through the mounting hole and engage with the back side thereof. The antenna body is thereby temporarily fixed to the roof panel and a worker can remove his or her hands from the antenna body. The worker then goes within the vehicle body, screws the fixing nut 2 onto the cylindrical projecting portion 13, and can thereby fix the automobile antenna on the roof panel.

  • Patent number: 6407714
Abstract: A drive mechanism for an antenna array mounted on a moving vehicle. The antenna array is mounted on a disc having two motors which, cooperatively, rotate the disc and rotate a number of antenna elements mounted on the disc. By rotating the antenna elements, the main lobe of the array may be scanned towards a satellite in the elevation plane. To track a moving source from a moving vehicle, one of the motors rotates the disc as a whole, thereby scanning the beam in the azimuth plane. Each antenna element is at an angle to the vertical so that, by rotating the disc to face the direction of the signal source, such as a satellite, a better signal can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 5446473
Abstract: An antenna of special form--to wit: a tube and more precisely a tubular dipole--is positioned inside an electrically non-conducting tubular post, typically made of fiberglass, that serves to support an electronic device, typically an irrigation controller, that communicates both by wire and by radio. Wired connection is via wires that are channeled and contained, preferably axially centrally tightly, within the tubular support post. The wires are substantially at radio frequency ground, and serve to connect the irrigation controller to one or more remote electrical devices such as soil moisture sensors and electric valves. The tubular dipole antenna is preferably formed as a fiberglass tube having a conducting exterior surface, normally made of metal and preferably copper, that is divided equally into two tubular segments.
