  • Patent number: 4519229
Abstract: A combination lock includes a bolt plate that can be retracted independently of a fence plate and dial wheel assemblies when a strap hinge is pressed thereagainst so that the bolt plate can latch into the strap hinge whether the dial wheel assemblies are in a proper combination symbols or not. The bolt plate which latches into the strap hinge can be moved against a biasing force by means of a fence plate which has spaced apart downward hook members abutted against three dial wheel assemblies when it is locked against a releasing movement. Each of the dial wheel assemblies are provided with a radial bore and an axial groove, the radial bores being respectively registered with the axial grooves when the dial wheels are in the proper combination of symbols in a proper sequence for permitting the releasing movement of the fence plate that brings the bolt plate to an unlatching position.

  • Patent number: 4518180
Abstract: A power door latch for automotive vehicles in which an electric motor drives a crank to move a slider which, in turn, can act upon a toggle linkage and a pawl so that the latch can release a rotary bolt and a toggle linkage can displace the rotary bolt to latch or release a pin of the doorpost. The toggle linkage allows high friction forces to be readily overcome utilizing a low power motor.

  • Patent number: 4517746
Abstract: A probe for manually decoding a lock of the wafer combination type having an elongate body to slideably engage the keyway, the body comprising at least two hollow tubular members. Within the hollow members are rotatably disposed detecting members which detect, by means of physical contact, certain identifying portions of wafers therein which form the combination of the lock. An indicator on the outside of the probe, responsive to the detecting members, indicates the presence, type, and orientation of the wafers. The same method may be practiced without the use of the probe by viewing the interior of the lock slightly off center with a pencil beam of light to determine the same characteristic wafer portions.

  • Patent number: 4514996
Abstract: A sliding door lock in which a bolt is longitudinally slidable by manual movement of a handle to which the bolt is connected so that the bolt is axially rotatable to prevent the cutting of the bolt when locked. The handle slides linearly along a base plate to move the bolt between opened and closed positions. A bullet latch in the handle engages detents on the base plate to hold the handle and bolt in the open and closed positions. A key-operated barrel lock has a barrel groove through which the bolt passes when the lock is in the unlocked position, and the bolt has a circumferential constriction which receives the barrel lock barrel when the barrel lock is rotated to its locked position, thereby preventing movement of the handle and bolt to the open position.

  • Patent number: 4514125
Abstract: Into a bore which is about to receive a fastener such as a screw, nail or bolt, an adhesive capsule support basket is first placed and mounted at a desired intermediate level. One or more capsule(s) containing adhesive is (are) inserted into the bore and become supported by the basket at the intermediate level. As the fastener is installed, it contacts and bursts the capsule(s), spreading the adhesive at the fastening region. The basket, which is rather flimsy, is destroyed by installation of the fastener, after having performed its role.

  • Patent number: 4508379
Abstract: A door locking device having a high anti-theft performance is herein disclosed. The device comprises a catching device mounted in the door and including a hook member and a lever member, the hook member being locked when the lever member is moved in a direction and unlocked when the lever is moved in an opposite direction; a key cylinder rotatably mounted to the door, the key cylinder being rotatable about the axis thereof only when handled by a specified key; an arm securely connected to an end of the key cylinder and extending therefrom radially outwardly; a rod pivotally connected to the arm and extending therefrom toward the lever member, so that rotation of the key cylinder about the axis thereof induces an axial movement of the rod; and a play providing device interposed between the extending end of the rod and the lever member, so that a play is permitted between the rod and the lever member upon relative movement therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4506530
Abstract: In a security door lock a pivoted detent deadlocks the bolt by engagement of a stump in pockets provided in the bolt. The detent is normally held in its locking position by a cam surface on the thrower and by a pack of detainers. Rotation of the correct key aligns notches in the detainers with a probe on the detent and also positions a second cam surface of the thrower adjacent to the detent, so the detent can pivot to its unlocking position under the action of a spring, and thereby free the bolt. After the bolt is shifted the final rotation of the key re-engages the cam surface against the detent to drive the detent positively back to its locking position. If required, the bolt can be double-thrown by a second ("master") key which lifts the detainers to higher positions so that second notches in the detainers now align with the detent probe. This higher lifting of the detainers also lifts a dogging slide so that the stump of the latter can pass over a projection on the bolt tail.

  • Patent number: 4491353
Abstract: A reciprocatory device in the form of a roller door catch has a reciprocatory plunger slidable in a fixed tubular housing and retained therein by an adjustment member. The plunger is urged to a normal resting position by a compression return spring. At its outer end the plunger rotatably supports a catch roller engageable with a recessed keeper mounted on the door frame. The adjustment member has a stem portion which projects into a blind bore at the inner end of the plunger, and this stem has radial stub projections which engage with a helical rib providing a screw thread within said bore, with a clearance in the axial direction approximating to the normal range of plunger reciprocation on door opening and closure. The adjustment member has a head portion with a frusto-conical clutch face which frictionally engages a mating clutch face at the inner end of the housing.
