Patent number: 8826661Abstract: In order to reduce radiation heat from the turbine housing of a supercharger, the turbine housing is conventionally water-cooled or covered with a heat shielding material, but it is required to control heat loss due to excessive water cooling or high temperature on the outer surface of the heat shielding material. On the contrary, a solution by a cooling structure consisting of an inner thermal insulation portion of an air layer and an outer low temperature portion covering the inner thermal insulation portion has an inevitable problem of increasing number of components and upsizing.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 2009Date of Patent: September 9, 2014Assignee: Yanmar Co., Ltd.Inventor: Terumitsu Takahata

Patent number: 8821141Abstract: Various rotary pumps are disclosed that are designed to pump viscous fluids or slurries. Often, the seals of such pumps can become over heated. The disclosed pumps include slots disposed in the rotors and/or slots disposed in the openings through which the drive and driven shafts task so that some of the fluid being pumped through the pumping chamber can migrate through the proximal wall of the pump casing to the seal assemblies disposed on the other side of the proximal wall of the pump casing. Thus, the seal assemblies of the pumps are cooled without resorting to the use of a cooling jacket or other cooling mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 2011Date of Patent: September 2, 2014Assignee: Wright Flow Technologies LimitedInventors: Bruce Helgeson, Joe Thompson, Jim Mayer, Chris Mihm, Keith Feeley, Juan Jose Mejia

Patent number: 8820056Abstract: Disclosed is a super-turbocharger system that increases power and efficiency of an engine. The system uses the exothermic properties of a catalytic converter to extract additional energy from exhaust heat that is used to add power to the engine. Compressed air is supplied and mixed with exhaust gases upstream and/or downstream from a catalytic converter that is connected to an exhaust manifold. The gaseous mixture of exhaust gases and compressed air is sufficiently rich in oxygen to oxidize hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide in the catalytic converter, which adds heat to the gaseous mixture. In addition, a sufficient amount of compressed air is supplied to the exhaust gases to maintain the temperature of the gaseous mixture at a substantially optimal temperature level. The gaseous mixture is applied to the turbine of the super-turbocharger, which increases the output of said super-turbocharger, which increases the power and efficiency of said engine.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2011Date of Patent: September 2, 2014Assignee: Vandyne Superturbo, Inc.Inventors: Ed VanDyne, Volker Schumacher, Jared William Brown, Tom Waldron

Patent number: 8801412Abstract: In order to prevent deterioration in performance of an oil-free screw compressor and scuffing caused by rust, surfaces of both male and female rotors are coated with heat-resistance coatings containing a solid lubricant. A coating contains Polyimide resin to which Molybdenum disulfide, as a solid lubricant, and Aluminum oxide and Titanium oxide, as additives, are added. Accordingly, it is possible to realize a coating that is higher in heat resistance and longer in lifetime than a conventional one.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2011Date of Patent: August 12, 2014Assignees: Hitachi Industrial Equipment Systems Co., Ltd., Kawamura Research Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: Yukiko Ikeda, Kazuaki Shiinoki, Masakatsu Okaya, Natsuki Kawabata, Masahiro Kawamura, Iwao Aoki

Patent number: 8801411Abstract: In an internal-gear type fluid device, guide teeth are formed by inner teeth at an outer rotor, and vane portions extending in the width direction are formed at tooth tip portions of the guide teeth. Further, guide teeth are formed by outer teeth at the inner rotor, and vane portions extending in the width direction are formed at tooth tip portions of the guide teeth. Since the vane portions are thus formed at the outer rotor and the inner rotor, the confinement timing when oil confinement is completed can be synchronized with the release timing when oil release is started, by adjusting, for example, the thickness of the vane portions without changing the profile of the guide teeth.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 2011Date of Patent: August 12, 2014Assignee: Fuji Jukogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Osamu Mori

Patent number: 8776493Abstract: A prime mover uses detonation chambers to provide rotary power through a center hub. The center hub has a center shaft able to rotate and mounted to the center hub, and rotating arms are mounted to the center shaft. A detonation chamber is mounted to each rotating arm at a distance from the center hub which establishes a force moment about the center hub. Fuel passages connect an external fuel source, such as hydrogen and oxygen, with the detonation chambers to deliver fuel to the detonation chambers. Fuel delivered to the detonation chambers is ignited to establish a reaction force which is transferred through the rotating arms and the center hub. The rotating force is used to drive a generator.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2011Date of Patent: July 15, 2014Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the NavyInventors: David C. Patent number: 8747089Abstract: An O-ring has a shape including a first portion that is arranged side by side with a suction port in an axial direction, a second portion that is arranged side by side with a suction port, and a third portion that connects these portions. The first portion and the second portion are arranged to be displaced from each other in the axial direction. The third portion is arranged to extend in a direction different from a circumferential direction between the suction port and the suction port when a pump body is viewed in a radial direction. Thus, the suction ports can be located closer to each other in the axial direction. Therefore, the axial direction length of the pump body can be reduced, and size reduction of a rotary pump device can be achieved.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 2011Date of Patent: June 10, 2014Assignees: Advics Co., Ltd., Denso CorporationInventors: Yuki Nakamura, Kunihito Ando, Nobuhiko Yoshioka, Takahiro Naganuma, Tomoaki Kawabata
