Patent number: 4493069Abstract: A phonograph cover is coupled to a tone arm assembly such that movement of the cover to its open position automatically retracts the needle of the tone arm assembly from the record in any selected position of the tone arm assembly on the record playing portion of the record. Movement of the cover to its closed position automatically causes the needle to engage the record in any selected position of the tone arm assembly on the record playing portion of the record. The tone arm assembly is further coupled to the phonograph turntable drive means such that the drive means is actuated upon movement of the tone arm assembly onto the record playing portion of the record. The drive means is deactuated upon movement of the tone arm assembly to a rest position located outside of the playing portion of the record.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 1983Date of Patent: January 8, 1985Assignee: The Quaker Oats CompanyInventors: Gene L. Patent number: 4486871Abstract: A continuous repeating type simplified sound reproducing device including on its casing, a fixed locking lever having a locking face parallel to the plane of rotation of a record disc and a rotating locking lever on the record disc which rotates together with the record disc and is able to enter under the locking face of the fixed locking lever only when the record disc is placed at its retracted position. At least one of the locking faces of the two locking members are arranged to have a face length corresponding to the angle of rotation sufficient to maintain the record disc at its retracted position until the record disc has completely returned to the starting point of sound reproduction. By virtue of this construction, satisfactory returning motion of this continuous repeating type sound reproduction device can be assured by a comparatively simplified construction.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 1984Date of Patent: December 4, 1984Assignee: Ozen CorporationInventor: Eishi Koike

Patent number: 4486874Abstract: To load a record into the player, a caddy is inserted into the player and then withdrawn, thereby leaving the enclosed record inside the player resting on a pair of front and back receiver pads. As the pickup carriage moves toward the turntable for playback, the record is lowered to the turntable for rotation therewith without hindrance from the receiver pads. As the carriage is driven back to a standby position after playback, the record is transferred back to the receiver pads for retrieval.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 1984Date of Patent: December 4, 1984Assignee: RCA CorporationInventor: Clyde F.
