  • Patent number: 7873732
Abstract: There is provided a method, a data processing system and a computer program product for maintaining service reliability in a data center. A probability of breach of a resource in the data center is determined. A breach of a resource may be the failure of the resource, the unavailability of a resource, the underperformance of a resource, or other problems with the resource. If the probability of breach exceeds a predetermined value, then additional resources are made available to the data center in order to prevent a breach of the resource from affecting the performance of the data center.

  • Patent number: 7860989
Abstract: In a computerized system, a sending computer system and recipient computer system exchange an interchange format message in a resource-efficient manner. For example, a transformation writer at the sending computer system selects and transforms only one or few of a plurality of units of the message at the time. The transformed message units are then streamed to the recipient computer system in accordance with a relevant transformation standard, such as the canonicalization standard in the case of XML messages. A transformation reader at the recipient computer system transforms the messages using a buffer big enough for received message units, and passes the transformed units to a file. Thus, the transformation writer acts as a stream writer to pass a message, and the transformation reader acts as a stream reader at the recipient computer system.

  • Patent number: 7853707
Abstract: Methods and systems for link-level alignment between processing modules or cards and distributed processing system are disclosed. According to one method, cards that support link level communications parameter negotiation exchange link status signal units (LSSUs) to negotiate a common set of link level communications. For link level communications between a card that supports parameter negotiation and a card that does not support link level communications parameter negotiation, LSSUs are exchanged, and the cards establish link level communications using a default set of parameter values.

  • Patent number: 7852692
Abstract: Test circuitry for determining whether a memory can operate at a lower operating voltage. The test circuitry includes a sense circuit having a delayed sensing characteristic as compared to other sense amplifier circuits of the memory. With this circuitry, the test circuitry can determine if the sense circuit can provide valid data under more severe sensing conditions. In one example, the sense circuit includes a delay circuit in the sense enable signal path. If sense circuit can provide data at more server operating conditions, then the memory operating voltage can be lowered.

  • Patent number: 7848132
Abstract: FRAM includes a tunable gain amp serving as a local sense amp, wherein the tunable gain amp is connected to a local bit line for reading a memory cell including a pass transistor and a ferroelectric capacitor, and gain is adjusted by setting a local amp voltage for reading the memory cell more effectively with optimized gain. And a global sense amp is connected to the local sense amp for receiving a read output. When reading data, a voltage difference in the local bit line is converted to a time difference by the sense amps for differentiating high data and low data. For example, high data is quickly transferred to an output latch circuit through the sense amps with high gain, but low data is rejected by a locking signal based on high data as a reference signal. Additionally, alternative circuits and memory cell structures for implementing the memory are described.

  • Patent number: 7844711
Abstract: A management device selects a storage device having a plenty of unallocated storage regions, selects a target using a port having a small allocation quantity from the storage device targets, and allocates the target, an initiator, and a storage region. When the number of targets and the allocated storage regions prepared by the storage device is within a predetermined number, the storage device manages the storage device as an allocation candidate. When the predetermined number is exceeded, the exceeding one is excluded from the allocation candidate. When the number of storage devices excluded from the allocation candidate has reached a certain number, the management device manages a new storage device and a new storage region as an allocation candidate.

  • Patent number: 7840689
Abstract: A geographic-based communications service system has a mobile unit for transmitting/receiving information, and access points connected to a network. The access points are arranged in a known geographic locations and transmit and receive information from the mobile unit. When one of the access points detects the presence of the mobile unit, it sends a signal to the network indicating the location of the mobile unit and the information requested by the mobile unit. Based on the signal received from the access point, the network communicates with information providers connected to the network and provides data to the mobile unit through the access point corresponding to the location of the mobile unit.
