  • Patent number: 7127272
Abstract: A design system designs a first antenna system in a communication system. The design system retrieves demographic information of customers from a first database system. The design system determines communication traffic based on the demographic information. The design system retrieves parameters of a second antenna system from a second database system. The design system determines an antenna system configuration for the first antenna system based on the communication traffic and the parameters of the second antenna system. The design system then determines a performance of the first antenna system in response to determining the antenna system configuration for the first antenna system.

  • Patent number: 7088984
Abstract: An electronic tuner of the present invention is arranged such that between an input part of the amplifying circuit and the ground serially connected are a coil and a diode, and a capacitor is connected between the ground and a connecting part between the coil and the diode. The diode is brought into conduction when a voltage supplied from a VHF High control source is at High level, and the coil and input capacitance of the amplifying circuit makes up a gain correction circuit for improving a frequency characteristic of a received signal in a VHF High band. The diode is brought out of conduction when a voltage supplied from a VHF High control source is at Low level, and the coil and the capacitor makes up a trap circuit for improving a frequency characteristic of a received signal in a VHF Low band. This makes it possible to minimize price increase of the apparatus and to improve frequency characteristics in the VHF High band and VHF Low band.

  • Patent number: 7043040
Abstract: A hearing aid apparatus is intended for sound transmission from one side of the head to the cochlea on the other side of the head for rehabilitation of patients with unilateral hearing loss. The hearing aid apparatus is based on the bone conducting principle for bone anchored hearing aids and includes a vibratory generating part that is mechanically anchored by means of osseointegration in the skull bone at the deaf side of the patient and arranged to transmit vibrations through the skull bone from the deaf side to the inner ear on the other side of the patient. The frequency characteristics of the apparatus are preferably adapted in such a way that the amplification is higher for frequencies above 1 kHz than for lower frequencies, which is in contrast to an ordinary bone anchored hearing aid.

  • Patent number: 7039428
Abstract: A system and method for selective paging provides a page to a paging transceiver but does not automatically provide an associated message. The paging transceiver receives the page and alerts the user that a message is waiting and preferably provides a short description of the message. The user can then download or otherwise act on the message at a time and at a place convenient to the user. The user can therefore place the paging transceiver in a location where it can easily receive and reply to the message. The paging system conserves air time and the paging transceiver conserves memory by not automatically receiving the associated messages. The paging transceiver can receive transmissions during off-peak hours and has a timer which can be programmed so that messages are delivered at a desired time. The content of the messages may be stored in a plurality of different systems and one or more of these systems may page the paging transceiver to inform it of the messages.

  • Patent number: 7035642
Abstract: A method for engineering management and planning for the design of a wireless communications network in three-dimensions (3-D) combines computerized organization, database fusion, and radio frequency (RF) site-specific planning models. The method enables a designer to keep track of wireless system performance throughout the process of pre-bid design, installation and maintenance of a wireless system. Using a database of information that defines the desired environment, predictions of antenna coverage, system coverage and interference, and other wireless system performance criteria, such as frame error rate and network throughput, can be made. Watch points are created to ensure, in real time, that any modifications to the design of the wireless system do not degrade the performance of the system with respect to the watch point locations.

  • Patent number: 7031749
Abstract: Received signal inputted from an antenna 1 is fed via a received signal mixer 2 and an A/D converter 3 to a demodulator 4. The demodulator 4 is operated according to software down-loaded in a software memory 5 from a program memory 6. A demodulator output digital signal is fed to a base-band signal processor 8 for signal processing, and then fed out through a man-machine interface 9 to the outside. On the transmission side, a signal to be transmitted is inputted to a modulator 10 though a route converse to that of the received signal. The modulator output is fed to a D/A converter 11 for conversion to an analog signal, which is in turn fed to a transmission signal mixer 12 for conversion to a carrier frequency, and then fed to a module, which includes a power amplifier 21, a transmission signal filter 22 and an isolator 23, to be transmitted via the antenna 1.

  • Patent number: 6999769
Abstract: In-progress call transfer between a wireless telephone and a wired telephone is effected using a short-range wireless communication link between the devices. Each of the devices are provisioned to include a short-range radio or infrared transceiver so that the devices can communicate with each other over the short-range wireless communication link, preferably using a given short-range wireless protocol. When the wireless telephone's battery is almost exhausted, or for any other reason that the user may desire, the wireless telephone requests the wired telephone's phone number by communicating with wired telephone over the short-range wireless communication link. Upon receipt of the wired telephone's phone number the wireless telephone issues a call transfer request to a cellular base station, passing the wired telephone's phone number. The base station and the network then re-route the call to the wired telephone.

  • Patent number: 6996379
Abstract: A linear high powered integrated circuit transmitter includes an up-conversion module, a plurality of power amplifiers, balanced integrated circuit coupling, and a combining circuit. The up-conversion module is operably coupled to produce a differential up-converted signal by mixing one or more local oscillations with a low intermediate frequency (IF) signal. The balanced integrated circuit coupling couples the plurality of power amplifiers to the up-conversion module such that the power amplifiers amplify the up-converted signal to produce a plurality of amplified radio frequency (RF) signals. The combining circuit is operably coupled to combine the plurality of amplified RF signals to produce a transmit RF signal.

  • Patent number: 6996383
Abstract: An automatic gain control (AGC) system (100) for a controlled gain receiver (1101) includes a magnitude generator (160) and a gain corrector (170). The magnitude generator (160) generates a binary voltage squared signal (165) having a binary value that is directly proportional to a recovered signal power of an intercepted signal (113). The gain corrector (170) determines an adjustment of a gain control value (195) as a multiple of increments that are approximately 3 decibel (dB), by shifting (475, 445) a reference threshold by one or more bits and comparing (485, 455) the shifted reference threshold to the binary voltage squared signal. An initial setting of a state of a step attenuator (114) during a track mode (172) is determined during a warm up mode (171) by comparing the binary voltage squared signal (165) to two different thresholds (245, 255). A filter (162) accommodates a variety of bandwidths and symbol rates by settings of an accumulator (505) and scaler (510) that are included in the filter (162).

Abstract: The present invention avoids distortion in a radio frequency device due to a received RF signal which has a voltage strength that is too high. The invention comprises a radio frequency signal attenutation circuitry, a radio frequency signal processing circuitry, intermediate frequency processing circuitry, and a gain controlling unit. The gain controlling unit is configured to output a control signal to the radio frequency signal attenuation circuitry and intermediate frequency processing circuitry. The radio frequency signal attenuation circuitry is configured to attenuate a radio frequency signal prior to being processed by radio frequency processing circuitry and intermediate frequency processing circuitry. Accordingly, saturation in the radio frequency signal processing circuitry and intermediate frequency processing circuitry is avoided.
