  • Patent number: 10004123
Abstract: An apparatus and a method monitor the status of a thermal protection device within a surge protection device (SPD). A monitoring circuit connected to a monitor output signal of the SPD is responsive to the presence of a time-varying voltage on the monitor output signal. The time-varying voltage is present during a selected half of each AC cycle when the thermal protection device is intact such that the SPD is no longer providing surge protection. The time-varying voltage is not present when the thermal protection device is no longer intact. When the time-varying voltage is not present for a selected duration, the monitoring circuit illuminates a light-emitting diode (LED) to indicate that the thermal protection device has failed.

  • Patent number: 9974149
Abstract: An apparatus and method allow end users to interactively create complex lighting patterns by remote control. Applications include decorative lighting, landscape lighting, signage, or advertising platforms. A lighting control system is equipped with sensors that receive remote control signals from a variety of different sources, and route the control signals to modulate receptacles coupled to different lighting circuits, thereby independently controlling multiple light arrays to achieve separate light patterns, or to coordinate different lighting effects. The control signals independently energize localized groups of lamps to provide enhanced lighting effects, while using significantly less wire material. Interactive remote control is provided via a mobile computing device such as a smart phone running a customized program. In one embodiment, the remote control device communicates selections to a Bluetooth®-equipped speaker to produce sound-controlled lighting effects.

  • Patent number: 9955632
Abstract: A method and apparatus for a horticultural light for use in an indoor horticultural facility that produces broad spectrum white light with variable correlated color temperature (CCT) so as to better simulate various aspects of the sun, such as the multiple phases of the sun, aspects of the sun in all four seasons and latitude of the sun. One or more rows of fixed-color LEDs is used to obtain even wider ranges of CCT values, such as the use of red and/or blue LEDs. Even broader spectrums are achieved by utilizing LEDs that emit differing wavelengths within a particular color spectrum, such as a channel of red LEDs that emit two different wavelengths within the red spectrum and/or a channel of blue LEDs that emit two different wavelengths within the blue spectrum. Sensors with feedback control maintains the light within constraints defined by a light prescription database.
