  • Patent number: 10282697
Abstract: Knowing a location of a sensor or other device may be useful in a variety of settings. Described herein are devices and techniques for using modular sections of known dimensions that are configured to couple to one another at predetermined coupling positions. The modular sections may intercommunicate to provide data identifying adjacent modular sections, the respective coupling positions, and where on each of the modular sections a device is attached. By analyzing this data, two- or three-dimensional arrangement data of the modular sections and devices may be generated. Using information about the physical dimensions of the modular sections, spatial coordinates indicative of where the devices are located in space may be determined. As devices or modular sections are added, removed, or replaced, the arrangement and the corresponding spatial coordinates may be updated to reflect the changes.

  • Patent number: 10181138
Abstract: Business rules can govern a single price or they can define relationships between different products involving two or more decision prices. One problem that retailers can face is that business rules are generally not codified and are rarely followed consistently, and thus it can be difficult to articulate existing business rules or generate new business rules. However, existing price information inherently contains industry knowledge and experience, even if retailers find it difficult to express that knowledge. The disclosed technology generates business rules by reverse engineering rule bounds and coefficients from existing price information. The reverse engineered rule bounds and coefficients can be used in price optimization to generate recommended prices for retail products that optimize revenue and profit while complying with a set of business rules.

  • Patent number: 10169943
Abstract: A voting system provides haptic feedback to a visually impaired voter to guide the voter. The haptic feedback may include vibration. The vibration may provide guidance by vibrating tactile written instructions, such as braille. The vibration may also provide guidance to the voter via the location of the vibration. A particular tactile instruction may be selectively highlighted at the appropriate time in the voting process and/or appropriate location on the voting device. In this manner, haptic guidance and cues are provided to a visually impaired voter. In one embodiment, the haptic feedback is provided by vibrating a relevant braille instruction at the relevant time during the voting process. In this manner touch sense guidance and cues are provided to a voter to emphasize what braille instructions are currently relevant to a voter and/or the location of such relevance.
