  • Patent number: 5197685
Abstract: For winding a field coil onto a two pole stator core of the type having pole pieces with coil support extensions with outwardly extending coil retaining fingers, two pairs of winding forms are removably supported on carriages manipulated to mount the winding forms on the coil support extensions before winding a stator and to remove the winding forms after winding. During winding, the winding forms are clamped to the coil support extensions by spring-biased latch mechanisms interconnecting the opposite pairs of winding forms. Each latch mechanism includes a rotatable latch member which, in one embodiment, is rotatable about an axis that is generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the stator being wound or, in another embodiment, is rotatable about an axis generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the stator being wound.

  • Patent number: 5193755
Abstract: Apparatus for winding the stator of an electric motor with two wires simultaneously are provided. The apparatus includes a stator winding needle having two separate wire delivery channels. The leads of the two wire to be wound are passed through the winding needle and are held by start lead holders. When winding is complete, the wires are identified by a lead pulling apparatus which rotates in a predetermined direction to grip an appropriate wire. The lead pulling apparatus draws each of the wires to a termination lead holder. Each wire is gripped and cut by a gripping assembly, which holds the cut leads in a predetermined position to facilitate winding of a subsequent stator.

  • Patent number: 5186687
Abstract: A constant velocity joint of the cross groove type wherein the outer joint member and the inner joint member are provided with a plurality of guide grooves circumferentially inclining with respect to their rotational axes. Each of the guide grooves is divided into a groove center portion having a symmetric shape with respect to the center line of the groove, and a pair of groove end portions having an asymmetric shape with respect to the center line of the groove. The pair of groove end portions of each guide groove have a depth larger than that of the groove center portion thereof so that a grinding wheel is prevented from contacting with the groove end portions during grinding operations on the guide grooves, thereby achieving the grinding operations accurately.

  • Patent number: 5184978
Abstract: A telescopic triplan universal joint having an inner joint member and an outer joint member. The outer joint member has three longitudinal chambers equally spaced about an axis of rotation. Each chamber has a pair of face-to-face longitudinal guideways. The inner joint member has three trunnions which radially extend into the three longitudinal chambers. Each longitudinal guideway is rollingly engaged by a planar roller bearing which is movable therealong. A movable race is disposed between each planar roller bearing and the trunnion extending into its associated chamber. The movable race has a flat surface engaging the planar roller bearing, a concave trunnion seat mating with the spherical surface of the trunnion, and a pair of transverse stop abutments which limit the longitudinal displacement of the planar roller bearing along the guideways relative to the movable race.

  • Patent number: 5184979
Abstract: A quick disconnect constant velocity universal joint for transmitting driving torque between rotative members, having a hollow pintle-type inner joint member fixed to one of the rotative members, an outer member fixed to the other of the rotative members, and a plurality of roller balls received in apertures provided in the inner joint member. The roller balls engage grooves provided in the outer member. A resiliently biased plunger disposed in the hollow inner joint member has an inclined surface which engages the roller balls and displaces them radially into the grooves provided in the outer joint member. A manually displaceable plunger actuator provides for the manual displacement of the plunger disengaging the roller balls from the inclined surface and permitting the roller balls to move inwardly in a radial direction, and the separation of the inner joint member from the outer joint member.

  • Patent number: 5178582
Abstract: An electromagnetic powder coupling device which can be used either as a brake or a clutch. In order to remove undesirable heat in the device, one attributable to Joule heat mainly emanated by field member, a rotor and a cylinder, and to other to frictional heat, especially inevitable for this kind of electromagnetic powder coupling device which is emanated by the friction between the rotor, cylinder and the magnetic powder filled in the space between the cylinder and the rotor, the coupling device incorporates a forced air draft cooling system. Two variations of cooling systems are disclosed, both of which have, in common with, at least a blower and a plurality of passages for forced draft air cooling not only to the external part but also to the inner part of the field member and the cylinder.
