  • Patent number: 6071300
Abstract: A device for promoting hemostasis in a blood vessel puncture is employed with an introducer that accesses the puncture through an incision. The introducer has an open distal end positionable at the puncture, an external portion with an open proximal end, and an axial channel therebetween. The device includes a hollow catheter, dimensioned to pass through the introducer channel, having a distal end to which is attached an expansible compression element, which may be an inflatable balloon, a collapsible prong assembly, or a resilient foam pad. The compression element is collapsed when the distal end of the catheter is enclosed within the introducer. When the catheter and the introducer are located the desired distance from the puncture, the introducer is displaced axially relative to the catheter to expose the compression element to the subcutaneous tissue, whereupon the compression element is expanded.

  • Patent number: 6017355
Abstract: Intercutaneous implant devices useful in intraluminal and extraluminal procedures for externalization of vessels are provided which have a hollow cylinder with an upper and lower end and an interior and exterior surface, said hollow cylinder having a central aperture which is greater in diameter than the exterior expanse of the access site and a length which provides for adequate annular separation of the externalized vessel at the exterior and interior surface of the implant to ensure adequate blood supply to the vessel; a flange extending from the upper end of the hollow cylinder which provides a platform onto which is attached a termination device; and a plane contacting surface extending from the lower end of the hollow cylinder which provides a means for fixation of the implant to the patient.

  • Patent number: 5891165
Abstract: A liquid dispensing infant pacifier has a mouth guard with a hollow tubular connector portion on its rear side over an opening extending through the mouth guard from its rear side to its front side. The connector has a configuration similar to that of a catheter hub and is selectively and removably connectable to either the interiorly threaded discharge end of a conventional liquid dispensing syringe or a closure cap portion of the pacifier which serves to block fluid flow through the connector portion. Projecting outwardly from the front side of the mouth guard, over the opening therein, is a specially designed double-walled tubular nipple which is formed from a partially everted pliable material tube and has a large interior flow space extending outwardly through the open front end of the nipple body.
