  • Patent number: 9919681
Abstract: In an on-board communication system, an on-board device transmits detection signals from a plurality of antennas provided in a vehicle, and a plurality of portable devices transmits response signals corresponding to the received detection signals. The on-board device performs position detection of the portable devices by receiving the response signals transmitted from the portable devices. Prior to transmission of the detection signals, the antennas transmit a processing start signal. The processing start signal and the detection signals are signals received in common by the plurality of portable devices. Each portable device includes a portable reception unit that receives the detection signals, and a portable transmission unit that, when the portable reception unit has received the detection signals, transmits the response signals, which include information corresponding to the received detection signals.

  • Patent number: 9911325
Abstract: Upon receiving a keystroke indicator signal from a remote control device, a key code generator device identifies a codeset usable to communicate with a selected consumer device. The keystroke indicator signal contains an indication of a pressed key, which corresponds to a function of the selected consumer device. Using the identified codeset and the key indication, the key code generator device generates a key code and modulates that key code onto a radio frequency carrier signal, thereby generating a first key code signal. The remote control device receives the first key code signal from the key code generator device and modulates the key code onto an infrared frequency carrier signal, thereby generating a second key code signal. The remote control device relays the key code to the selected consumer device in the second key code signal. The key code causes the selected consumer device to perform the desired function.

  • Patent number: 9892358
Abstract: A presently-powered RFID tag can itself determine its own relative movement with respect to a reader. This RFID tag can responsively alter its read state to thereby permit the RFID tag to respond to a subsequent read inquiry. By one approach the RFID tag assesses its own movement by monitoring the strength of its received power. By another approach, the RFID tag has a power source that becomes electrically charged via radio-frequency energy received by the tag antenna and that power source is configured to become operably discharged at a point in time that corresponds to a typical null-sensing duration of time for a given application setting for that RFID tag.

  • Patent number: 9871559
Abstract: In order to permit, in a motor vehicle on-board power system, data to be transmitted with low expenditure on cabling, even between multiple partial networks, a plurality of loads embodied, in particular, as sensors is respectively assigned a communication unit for transferring data. The communication units are embodied in such a way that, by utilizing the supply lines they set up a partially interlinked data network, and transfer data made available by the loads, with the result that communication via the partial networks is also made possible. As a result of the transmission of the data via the supply lines in combination with the setting up of a partially interlinked data network, signal transmission is made possible even if there is no direct connection between the respective sensor and a target unit.
