  • Patent number: 9993253
Abstract: There are disclosed various dispensing mechanisms for dispensing filamentary material (24) through a catheter (12) into a treatment site of a patient, for example into an aneurysm sack (20) in a patient's vessel (22). In one embodiment the assembly (100) includes a conical material carrier (150) which is substantially aligned with the dispensing direction, thereby avoiding the need to have a rotating carrier. Another embodiment has a carrier (340) which is at least partially cylindrical. The carrier (150, 340) provides for efficient dispensation of filamentary material at substantial dispensing speeds.

  • Patent number: 9993262
Abstract: A skin graft mesher including a cutting roller and a guide roller rotatably mounted to a fixture. A skin graft may be advanced through the mesher between the rollers to form a pattern of perforations in the skin graft. The cutting roller includes cutting rings disposed on an axle and rotatable therewith. The cutting roller further includes a tissue clearing structure positioned between adjacent cutting rings with the axle extending through the tissue clearing structure and rotatable relative to the tissue clearing structure. The tissue clearing structure may clear tissue from between adjacent cutting rings during operation of the skin graft mesher. The tissue clearing structure may be eccentrically rotated about the axle between adjacent cutting rings with the tissue clearing structure extending radially outward beyond the outer diameter of the cutting ring around less than the entire outer circumference of the cutting ring.

  • Patent number: 9993626
Abstract: A medical balloon includes an outer layer and an inner layer. The outer layer has a surface texture or formation such as a scoring element. The inner layer is made of a reflow material which during production of the balloon from a raw tubing will soften and flow into internal recesses in the outer layer, thereby filling these recesses and providing support to the outer layer formations so as to avoid flattening of these formations during use of the balloon. The balloon can be manufactured in a single formation step from a raw tubing having the outer and inner reflow layer coextruded.

  • Patent number: 9980838
Abstract: Systems and methods for addressing the percutaneous intervention related trauma to the vessels that arise from type-III hostile aortic arches, from uncontrolled prolapse of sheaths, embolic protection devices and stent delivery systems, by stabilizing the systems while stenting of the left and right carotid arteries. Guide wires to stabilize catheters used to access the left or right carotid arteries (CA) for carotid percutaneous intervention of the vessels originating from a tortuous aortic arch are disclosed. A bifurcated catheter for stabilizing the catheters is also disclosed. The bifurcated catheter has a main catheter that divides into two separate catheters forming a “Y” shape. One leg of the catheter has a smaller diameter with a smaller working lumen (inner diameter) to carry the stabilizing wire and the other leg of the catheter has a larger working lumen for arterial stenting operations.

  • Patent number: 9962182
Abstract: In various embodiments, a surgical instrument for operation in an aqueous environment is provided. In at least one embodiment, the surgical instrument may include a hollow sheath and a blade disposed at least partially within the sheath. Coupled to the blade may be at least one ultrasonic transducer, which, in turn, may be coupled to a drive system. The drive system may be configured to deliver gross axial motions to the blade such that the blade translates with respect to the hollow sheath when the drive system is activated. Accordingly, tissue may be cut by the blade with gross axial movement of the blade and/or ultrasonic vibrational motion provided by the ultrasonic transducer(s). In alternative embodiments, the blade may be rotated axially instead of translated with respect to the hollow sheath.

  • Patent number: 9956098
Abstract: A tubular prosthesis having a succession of turns around a longitudinal axis includes connectors between adjacent turns distributed around the circumference of the prosthesis. Each turn includes struts interspersed by inflection zones located at the axial ends of each turn such that, when the prosthesis expands radially, gaps open up between adjacent struts of each of the turn. The inflection zones are distributed regularly around the circumference so that the gaps are substantially the same size as each other around the circumference of the turn. The prosthesis may include a turn that exhibits a stagger zone within which the gap between adjacent struts is of an individual size different from that common to the other gaps of that turn. The inflection zones in that turn that lie circumferentially next to the stagger zone are displaced out of facing relationship with corresponding zones of inflection in the adjacent turn.
