  • Patent number: 11376381
Abstract: The invention is directed to a device for the sealing occlusion and/or for the space-filling tamponade of hollow organs or other cavities in the human body, comprising a preferably fully and residually formed balloon (2) which applies a sealing pressure that is as constant as possible to the wall of the organ to be occluded or tamponaded. The device comprises an isobarically acting regulator (3) for the filling pressure within the interior of the balloon, the regulator having a volume reservoir (3) situated extracorporeally outside of the body, and a feed line (6) for communicatively connecting the extracorporeal volume reservoir of the regulator to the interior of the balloon. The connecting feed line between the balloon and the regulator has a flow-directing one-way valve (26) that prevents backflow from the balloon to the volume reservoir of the regulator, while a nonflow-directing throttle element (27) is provided which allows a slow volume compensation between the balloon and the volume reservoir.

  • Patent number: 11351316
Abstract: A handheld device for dispensing a pharmaceutical substance has a housing in which a storage container with the pharmaceutical substance and a counter are arranged. The storage container dispenses the pharmaceutical substance by pressure actuation by a user after a specified displacement path has been traversed, and the counter carries out an action in order to rotate a counter wheel of the counter on the basis of the displacement path being traversed. The counter additionally has a drive part rotates the counter wheel, and the counter wheel is rotatably attached to a mounting part. The mounting part is formed independently of the housing, and the drive part is directly attached to the mounting part. The handheld device advantageously dispenses a pharmaceutical substance in that the action is first carried out on the counter wheel of the counter upon the pressure actuation, and the pharmaceutical substance is then dispensed.

  • Patent number: 11331442
Abstract: Systems and methods for isolating and/or desiccating a portion of a drug delivery tract of a drug delivery apparatus to reduce water vapor content therein are provided. For example, there is provided a metered dose inhaler for delivering aerosolized medicament or other matter to a user. The aerosolized medicament or other matter may be discharged from a discharge passageway within the inhaler into an inhalation passageway for inhalation by a user, and the inhaler may comprise a seal member operative to selectively isolate the discharge passageway from the inhalation passageway and external environment during inactivity. The inhaler may further comprise a desiccant material arranged to withdraw moisture from the isolated discharge passageway. In other instances, desiccant material may be arranged to withdraw moisture from the discharge passageway of the inhaler without isolating the discharge passage during inactivity.

  • Patent number: 11273278
Abstract: Components for a respiratory treatment apparatus that is capable of providing a humidified respiratory treatment permit a reduction in condensation in a patient interface and/or its gas delivery tubing. In some embodiments, a rainout valve that may be an integrated component of a humidifier output aperture, or coupled thereto, may reduce condensation with a vapor barrier operable to selectively block and permit humidified gas transfer from the humidifier. For example, the barrier may be operable to open in response to a flow of pressurized breathable gas that may be generated by a flow generator of the respiratory treatment apparatus. In the absence of such a generation of pressurized flow, the barrier may prevent a transfer of the humidified gas such as into a conduit for a patient interface by retracting to a closed position. Example vapor barriers may include a resilient membrane, cover, bellows, flap, shutter or other suitable valve.
