  • Patent number: 11621735
Abstract: A noise reduction system for a digital receiver reduces noise in signals received at the digital receiver. The digital receiver includes an input for receiving an analogue signal, analogue signal processing circuitry for processing an analogue signal, and an output for providing the processed signal to a digital signal processor. The noise reduction system is located between the input and the digital receiver input, and includes a first component that outputs results of a noise signal identification and a second component that applies one or more counter-measure to the received analogue signal to produce a modified analogue signal. The modified analogue signal has a reduced level of noise compared to the received analogue signal, wherein the noise reduction system is arranged to assess the effectiveness of the one or more counter-measures applied by the second component to determine whether any further counter-measures are required.

  • Patent number: 11621748
Abstract: A method for controlling an antenna array includes determining, based on a beamstate, an initial weight vector of excitations. The initial weight vector is transformed into an active-impedance vector. When the modulus of any element of the active-impedance vector exceeds a threshold, the initial weight vector is unsafe. In this case, a substitute weight vector is identified such that (i) the initial and substitute weight vectors have a similarity measure that exceeds a similarity threshold and (ii) the substitute weight vector is safe. The antenna array may then be driven according to the substitute weight vector to emit radiation having a radiation pattern that approximates that of the beamstate. The substitute weight vector may be found by searching a library of safe weight vectors or by adjusting the excitations of the initial weight vector until a safe alternative is found.

  • Patent number: 11616634
Abstract: Methods for simultaneous packet transmission (SPT) may be used to transmit packets simultaneously on a communications link such the orthogonal frequency division multiplexed multiple access (OFDMA) downlink used in used in WiFi and LTE cellular/wireless mobile data applications. A first SPT method may employ multiple data streams and selects a subset of streams to form symbols during every intervals. This allows the use of variable code rates on different streams thereby increasing the overall throughput. A second SPT method may transmit a second data stream implicitly while transmitting a data stream explicitly on a communication channel. These SPT methods may be used either individually or jointly, and may be implemented via software changes at the transmitter and the receiver. Additionally, methods for applying constrained interleaved coded modulation (CICM) to low-density parity check (LDPC) codes and decoding LDPC codes with CICM are presented.

  • Patent number: 11601180
Abstract: A system described herein may determine transformations, differences, variations, etc. in radio frequency (“RF”) waveforms sent by a device in order to detect motion-based events. Models associated with the differences in such RF waveforms may be used to identify particular types of events, such as the presence of an individual in a room or other area, a type of motion, or other types of events. An interval or rate at which the device outputs RF waveforms may be modified, in order to increase the resolution of the determination of differences between the RF waveforms as sent and the RF waveforms as received, and/or to conserve power.

  • Patent number: 11601175
Abstract: Methods, devices and computer programs for determining new transmit directions to use for beamformed transmissions in case the link quality of an existing direction falters. A transmitting communication device and a receiving communication device cooperate via a beam tracking procedure to determine a new suitable transmit direction to use for upcoming beamformed transmissions. Information relating to the beam tracking procedure is communicated over an existing link that enables communication between the transmitting and receiving communication devices. The receiving communication device provides the transmitting communication device with information about a beam scan performed in order to detect tracking beams transmitted by the transmitting communication device. This information allows the transmitting communication device to determine suitable transmit directions to use.

  • Patent number: 11569877
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) having partially coherent antennas may be configured for simultaneous transmissions on groups of antennas. To achieve the benefits of simultaneous transmissions using groups of antenna that are partially coherent, without having the transmissions affect each other, the UE may apply a hybrid closed-loop multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) scheme among each antenna in the antenna groups where phase coherence can be maintained Following the hybrid closed-loop MIMO scheme, the UE may apply a transparent diversity scheme across each antenna of the groups. Alternatively, the UE may first apply the transparent diversity scheme and next apply the hybrid closed-loop MIMO scheme. By applying a hybrid closed-loop MIMO scheme, and a transparent diversity scheme, the UE may fully realize its resources and contribute to an improved spatial diversity for a MIMO system.
