  • Patent number: 6719749
Abstract: A multilumen catheter assembly and methods for making and inserting the same are provided. The catheter assembly includes a unitary catheter and at least two distal end tubes which extend distally from the unitary catheter. The at least two lumens in the unitary catheter are in fluid communication with passageways through the distal end tubes. The catheter assembly may be made by extruding a unitary catheter tube having internal longitudinally extending lumens, then splitting the tube on its distal end portion to form distal end tubes. The tubes are then ground and polished to form a smooth surface on the exterior of the tubes. The catheter assembly may also be made by forming an outer layer on at least two longitudinally extending catheters while leaving two distally extending portions of the tubes outside the outer layer to form the distal end tubes.

  • Patent number: 6720539
Abstract: A textile made at least in part with conductive yarns for the purpose of generating heat from an electrical power source. The textile has conducting yarns, or “heaters”, with conductivity and spacing tailored to the electrical source to be used and the heat to be generated. The heater yarns have a positive temperature coefficient whereby the resistance of the yarn increases with an increase in temperature and decreases with a decrease in temperature. “Leads”, such as conductive yarns, can be used to supply electricity to the heater yarns. A coating to the textile can electrically insulate the textile as well as provide protection to the textile during activities such as laundering or use.

  • Patent number: 6710313
Abstract: A surface heating device comprises a heating element fabricated by braiding plural conductors on a flexible supporter. The surface heating device employs a heating element member which is reduced in thickness or diameter, and thus can be inhibited from providing an uncomfortable touch when sat upon or appearing as a relief on a surface cover of a seat. Also, because a pad is reduced in thickness, the surface cover of the seat can be heated up rapidly. The heating element is fabricated by braiding the conductors, and thus, when loaded with a weight when sat upon, the heating element allows a resultant stress exerted thereon to be dispersed through the conductors, hence being stronger against bending. Moreover, the conductors are inhibited from separating from each other and need no insulating coat.

  • Patent number: 6701066
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for delivering solid precursors in deposition processes. A flow monitor is used to measure and regulate the flow of vaporized solid precursor material from a vaporization chamber to a deposition chamber. The flow monitor chokes the supply of vapor into deposition chamber to regulate vapor flow. To avoid condensation of the solid precursor material in the delivery lines or flow monitor, a controller is placed in a feed back loop to monitor the flow rate make adjustments to the amount of vapor available at the inlet of the flow monitor.

  • Patent number: 6695832
Abstract: A multilumen catheter assembly is provided, which includes a unitary portion and at least two distal end tubes extending distally from the unitary portion. The unitary portion includes an exterior having a generally round or oval shape in cross section and includes at least two distal end tubes of generally circular (or other) cross sectional shape extending longitudinally therethrough. The catheter assembly may be made by extruding a unitary tube having internal longitudinally extending lumens (of circular or other shape), then splitting the tube on its distal end portion to form distal end tubes. The tubes are then ground and polished, the finished tubes retaining in combination the generally oval cross sectional shape of the unitary extrusion, or the finished tubes can each be finished to a circular, or other, cross sectional shape, or the finished tubes could include a combination of cross sectional shapes over its longitudinal length.

  • Patent number: 6692238
Abstract: A muffler of a compressor in which an imaginary central line of flowing direction in a passage pipe at an inlet side and an imaginary central line of the flowing direction in a passage pipe at an outlet side are formed to have an angle of 40˜50° or a curved surface having a certain curvature is formed in an extended space between an outlet end of the passage pipe at the inlet side and an outlet end of the passage pipe at the outlet side. Accordingly, the refrigerant gas which flows to the passage pipe at the outlet side through the passage pipe at the inlet side can flow smoothly as the refrigerant gas passes the curved surface and by attenuating pulsation flow between the passage pipes at the inlet side and outlet side, the refrigerant gas can be sucked smoothly. Therefore, suction amount of the refrigerant gas increases, thus to improve the efficiency of the compressor.

  • Patent number: 6683280
Abstract: The present invention is directed toward an improved method and apparatus for securing a prosthesis that is being implanted in a patient. A heat-curable bone cement is used to secure the implanted prosthesis in the patient. A heater is then applied to the prosthesis to decrease the time required for the cement in contact with the prosthesis to cure or set. An adjustable heater control and temperature gauge are used to monitor and control the amount of heat applied to the prosthesis. A socket is provided on the heater such that a tip designed to couple with the particular type of prosthesis being implanted in the patient can be installed on the heater. One or more safety gauges are used to monitor the heater's operation to insure that an excessive amount of heat is not being applied.

  • Patent number: 6663355
Abstract: A variable displacement compressor includes a housing having a suction chamber. A crank chamber is defined in the housing. A valve plate assembly is located in the housing. A drive shaft is supported in the housing. A radial bearing is located in the housing. A holding bore houses the rear end of the drive shaft and the radial bearing. The holding bore is connected to a holding space. A passage connects the holding space and the suction chamber. A restricting member is located in the holding space. The restricting member restricts axial movement of the drive shaft and divides the holding space into a first region and a second region. A clearance is formed between the restricting member and the valve plate assembly. The clearance disappears when the pressure of the crank chamber is increased rapidly.
