  • Patent number: 10038952
Abstract: A sound management system for use by a user located within an environment includes a memory device for storing a selection of sounds. The sounds can be music and/or various “colors” of noise (e.g., white, pink, and brown). A controller is used to select one particular stored sound based on a measured biological condition of the user, such as stress or fatigue, or an environmental condition of the environment, such as ambient noise. According to one embodiment, the system is used in conjunction with a sit/stand desk and the sound selection is made in response to changes in the desk height. The selected sound is selected to help abate or mitigate distracting sounds in the environment, such as people talking. The selected sounds are played to the user through headphones worn by the user, or through nearby speakers.

  • Patent number: 10031718
Abstract: Methods and systems for augmenting an audio signal are provided for herein. In some embodiments, a method can be performed by a sound processing system of a computing device. In such embodiments, the sound processing system can receive a captured audio signal from a microphone coupled with the sound processing system. The sound processing system can then produce an augmented audio signal by selectively filtering the captured audio signal based on a physical location of the computing device. This resulting augmented audio signal can reflect an effect associated with the physical location of the computing device. The augmented audio signal can then be output, by the sound processing system, to a speaker coupled with the computing device to enable consumption of the augmented audio signal by a user of the computing device. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed herein.

  • Patent number: 10019980
Abstract: A reverberator based on a room response modal analysis is adapted to produce distortion, pitch and time manipulation effects, as well as gated and iterated reverberation. An example “modal reverberator” is a parallel collection of resonant filters, with resonance frequencies and dampings tuned to the modal frequencies and decay times of the space or object being simulated. In one example, the resonant filters are implemented as cascades of heterodyning, smoothing, and modulation steps, forming a type of analysis/synthesis architecture. By applying memoryless nonlinearities to the modulating sinusoids, distortion effects are produced, including distortion without intermodulation products. By using different frequencies for the heterodyning and associated modulation operations, pitch manipulation effects are generated, including pitch shifting and spectral “inversion.” By resampling the smoothing filter output, the signal time axis is stretched without introducing pitch changes.

  • Patent number: 10021500
Abstract: An audio file playing method and an apparatus are disclosed and are used to: when an audio file is played, expand a quantity of audio channel signals in the audio file and improve a playing effect of the audio file. The method is as follows: after the audio file is obtained, determining, whether the audio file includes an audio channel signal that can be played by the mobile device; if the audio file includes the audio channel signal that can be played by the mobile device, directly playing the audio channel signal. Therefore, when multiple mobile devices are used to play a same audio file, the mobile devices can avoid performing a same operation, thereby increasing a quantity of audio channels of the audio file, expanding a sound field of the audio file, and improving a playing effect of the audio file.
