  • Patent number: 5427577
Abstract: An athletic support device in the nature of a brace for use in bowling, having a casing that extends along a portion of the hand and/or wrist, means for coupling the casing to the hand, at least one inflatable bladder associated with the casing located at the position or positions where support is desired, and means for providing gas to the inflatable bladder so that the bladder may be inflated to provide support to the hand and/or wrist, as desired. The device includes means for deflating the bladder or bladders, so that the level of support provided may be adjusted to a desired level. The bladders may be incorporated into conventional support device designs, such as gloves, braces, and wraps. Preferably, bladders are associated with the casing at one or more of the following areas: palm area, wrist area, or finger area. In this way, the device may be tailored to the bowler's hand or to provide an optimal position of the hand and/or wrist for a desired delivery of the ball.

  • Patent number: 5396911
Abstract: Disclosed is a stabilized substrate composition for smoking articles, particularly cigarettes. In general, the stabilized substrate composition comprises an admixture of a binder and an aerosol forming material which plasticizes the binder, together with optional fillers and/or base materials. In the stabilized substrate compositions of the present invention the relative amounts of binder and aerosol former depend particularly on the situation in which the substrate composition is used. In general, the ratio of aerosol former to binder is between about 3:1 and about 40:1. When the stabilized composition is used on a base material such as tobacco cut filler, the ratio of aerosol former to binder should be at least about 15:1, and preferably is from about 25-35:1, with a maximum ratio of about 40:1. If the composition is formed into a cast sheet, the minimum ratio is about 3:1, the preferred ratio is about 8:1, and the maximum ratio is about 10:1.

  • Patent number: 4988103
Abstract: A fit-together type puzzle comprising a number of ball blocks of varying configurations with each ball block being composed of an equal number of balls joined together. The ball blocks are fitted together with one another to selectably form a planar triangular figure, a planar elongate hexagonal figure, and a solid regular tetrahedral figure. Each ball block is composed of such number of balls that the planar triangular figure is composed of thirty-five balls, the planar elongate hexagonal figure is composed of thirty balls, and the solid regular tetrahedral figure has one side thereof composed of fifteen balls. A board which has recesses or a set of semi-spherical depressions thereon corresponding to the figures is provided to receive the balls blocks.

  • Patent number: 4984796
Abstract: A device and method for selecting a plurality of numbers for an entry in a game of chance such as a lottery game in which an entry comprises a subset of numbers chosen from a set of numbers which are selectable in the lottery game. A wheel is provided having a plurality of rest positions, each rest position having a distinct number associated therewith, the distinct numbers forming the set of numbers which are selectable in the lottery game. A plurality of balls are placed on the wheel, with the number of balls corresponding to the quantity of numbers to be selected to form the subset of numbers forming the entry. The wheel is designed to cause each ball to assume one of the rest positions such that a distinct number is selected for each ball and the entry comprises the subset of numbers selected by the plurality of balls.

  • Patent number: 4978126
Abstract: A rotating amusement device having two or more overlapping circle members which are independently rotatable with the overlapping sections being rotatable into the bodies of any or all of the overlapping circles or into a different overlapping of circles. The device can be utilized as a puzzle wherein various possible overlapping sections are differently colored or shaped and the object is to obtain a predetermined color combination or shape configuration. The circle members are comprised of interlocking elements with a peripheral frame holding the circles in such interlocking position while permitting the independent rotation of each of the circles. Increase in the number of overlapping circles adds to the complexity by increasing the number of possible permutations.
