Abstract: An illumination system (10) comprises: a lamp assembly (14) for generating color-variable light (17); a controller (15) for generating control signals (?1, ?2, ?3) for the lamp assembly; —source color input means (20), preferably a color sensor, for inputting to the controller information defining a source color; a memory (30) associated with the controller, containing information defining at least one color harmony rule. On the basis of the input source color, and using the harmony rule from the memory, the controller calculates a target color and generates its output control signals accordingly. Thus, the light output from the lamp assembly harmoniously matches the measured color of surroundings or objects.

  • Patent number: 8732113
Abstract: A degree of nonlinearity based on intra-wave frequency modulation is proposed here with the value substantially between 0 and 1. The degree of nonlinearity is used for obtaining the state rather than a system. The data required for defining the degree of nonlinearity is the state of the motion or the observed data. For a complicate state with more than one IMF containing prominent energy density, the degree of nonlinearity has also considered the amplitude variations. The combination of the intra-wave frequency modulation and the amplitude variation gives the Combined Degree of nonlinearity. With the definitions of degree of nonlinearity, the nonlinearity characteristic can be quantified, and the discussion of nonlinear effects could be conducted more precisely.

  • Patent number: 8731689
Abstract: A programmable lighting control system integrates time-based, sensor-based, and manual control of lighting and other loads. The system includes one or more groups of controlled lighting areas, which may be, for example, floors of a building. Each group may have one or more lighting zones, which may be, for example, individual rooms or offices on a building floor. Each lighting zone includes occupancy and/or daylight sensors that may be wirelessly coupled to a gateway of the group. Each gateway is coupled to a network, such as, for example, a local area network (LAN). Control software, residing on a computer (e.g., a personal computer or a server) coupled to the network and accessible via the network, remotely communicates with and controls the lighting zones either individually, groupwise, or globally. Each lighting zone can also be locally controlled at the gateway and can function independently of the control software and the gateway.

  • Patent number: 8688616
Abstract: Described herein is a framework for analyzing data in high-dimensional space. In accordance with one implementation, observed data and at least one input model parameter set is received. The input model parameter set serves as a solution candidate of a predefined problem (e.g., inverse or optimization problem) and is related to the observed data via a model. To provide enhanced computational efficiency, a reduced base with lower dimensionality is determined based on the input model parameter set. The reduced base is associated with a set of coefficients, which represents the coordinates of any model parameter set in the reduced base. Sampling is performed within the reduced base to generate an output model parameter set in the reduced base. The output model parameter set is compatible with the input model parameter set and fits the observed data, via the model, within a predetermined threshold.

  • Patent number: 8583583
Abstract: Disclosed is an exemplary multiple hypothesis engine that provides situation assessment capabilities regarding cyber auto tactics techniques and procedures. Dynamic cyber adversarial operations are evaluated via a combination of techniques using a Bayesian multiple hypothesis tree, or graph, as a framework. A top-down probability propagation mechanism solves different aspects of the problem in a round-robin fashion. The top-down probability propagation mechanism comprises the Hypothesis Refinement Engine. A model-based abductive reasoner comprising The Hypothesis Validator is used to confirm or refute the refined hypothesis. A model-based learning engine comprising Behavior Model Trainer is used to incrementally augment the knowledge base of behavior models as new adversarial TTPs are discovered. These three techniques behave in a cooperative manner by operating upon the Bayesian multiple hypothesis tree framework.
