Abstract: A soil or other ground cover is treated for termite or other pest control by dispersing in the soil or on the ground, a toxic insecticide in an active available state and a toxic insecticide in an initially unavailable state and timed to be released before complete dissipation of the immediately available insecticide. The initially unavailable insecticide is enveloped in a container made of a material either in whole, in part attractive to and edible by the pest to release the insecticide when the container or plug is eaten by the pest. Combined with the insecticide is any odoriferous material which will signal the presence of termites by its distinctive odor. A soil coloring agent can be used also or in addition to provide a visual signal. The odor producing agent can be used alone.

Abstract: A conventional type fish net of webbing material usually of substantial length and having one end which is either closed or closeable, with the other end being open, mountable and attachable to a fishing vessel to which a fish hatch has been added. This fish hatch includes a main flotation body which has a central aperture therein and projecting flanges along the outer circumference thereof for attachment by binding and the like to an opening cut into the side of the fish net. Preferably this is the upper side as the fish net is mounted on the fishing vessel for trolling purposes. A hinged flap is provided on one side of the fish hatch and the hinged flap has openings therein corresponding in size to the webbing of the fish net, that is, of openings which are no larger in size than the apertures of the fish net. This cover closure member is hinged with a built in hinge stop edge for the purpose of keeping the flap opening partly open during a stage of the trolling operations.

Abstract: A generally open frame member has a series of coil springs attached by their ends to threaded studs on the interior of the frame. The opposite free ends of the springs are each opened for the attachment of one end of a lure, the other end of which is hooked, under tension of the spring, to a spaced fixed attachment means or to an oppositely mounted spring. Each frame is adapted to be attached to one or more identical frames by demountable hinges and the two outermost frames are provided with covers to give a completely enclosed storage case.

Abstract: A multidirectional animal trap including a base having a hub with spaced jaws pivotally mounted on the hub and extending radially therefrom. A U-shaped spring has one leg thereof secured to the hub with the other end having a ring formed thereon. A multiplicity of jaws, each having an offset portion in engagement with the ring and extending through the ring with the lower end of each offset portion pivotally mounted on the hub. Also provided is a pressure plate secured to a mount pivotally mounted on the base at the hub. An engagement bar is pivotally mounted on the base and formed with an extension portion that engages a slot formed in the mount of the pressure plate. The outer ends of the jaws are curved inwardly, whereby the same overlap which causes positive engagement with the animal trapped in a humane manner.

Abstract: A portable device usable with a fishing rod for selectively projecting or casting a fish lure outwardly to desired areas by means of stretching or retracting a flexible elastic or stretchable line or a stretchable spring, which is mounted on and connected to a fishing rod or pole, and which has a movable, slidable carrier or open ended slidably mounted container, which is connected to an end part of the elastic or spring, and which is adapted to be pulled back or stretched, and then released to cause the carrier or receptacle to snap forward to thereby project a lure from within the receptacle into areas in which the user desires the lure to fall.

Abstract: A plug lure attachable to a fishing line which when in contact with water produces ripples and noises simulating live bait to attract fish.

Abstract: A tipping tube is pivotally mounted to the fishing rod at an end region, a slide-weight mounted onto the tipping tube, a signalling means placed at the other end region of the tipping tube and laterally extending out from the tipping tube, and a supporting means releasably engaging the moving end of the tipping tube to keep it with a predetermined force in a rest position in which the axis of the tipping tube is substantially parallel to the fishing rod.The fishing line is led through the tipping tube and in operation the inclination of the tipping tube is determined by the tension in the fishing line and the position of the slide-weight. The movement of the signalling means provides a perceptible display of the bite.

Abstract: A pair of elongated outwardly curved grippers are pivotally connected along one edge and have cooperating lip portions along their opposite edges. An elongated handle formed from spring material has free ends connected to the grippers adjacent the lip portions and normally bias the grippers to an open position.

Abstract: An upstanding generally cylindrical body is provided and includes upper and lower vertically spaced closure walls extending and sealingly secured across the lower end portion of the body. An upwardly opening water receptacle is defined above the upper closure wall and a closed airtight chamber is defined within the body between the upper and lower closure walls. An inverted U-shaped tube has one end thereof secured downwardly through the upper closure wall and the other end has a reverse bend formed therein and includes an upwardly directed terminal end having a tubular valve body supported therefrom.

Abstract: A body member has a fishhook projecting from one end and a guard assembly projecting from the other end. The guard assembly has buoyant blades swivelly attached to the free ends thereof.

Abstract: An imitation fish lure for use with a rod and line for catching predatory fish comprises a wing shaped swimming body so curved as to imitate a fish swimming transversely to the line when pulled by the line and a bar parallel to the longitudinal axis of the swimming body for slidable attachment of the line, the bar being adjustable at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the swimming body.

Abstract: A beam assembly for fishing, in which first and second elastic beams are mounted on a weight support and adapted to separate from each other at the free ends thereof. A leader is connected to the outboard end of the first beam and engages with an end of the second beam. The first and second beams are maintained in engagement with each other at the free ends thereof and disengageable from each other when the leader is pulled for thereby striking a fish.

Abstract: A fishing lure has a body including a pair of wire-like diverging arms with a weight and hook connected to one the arms. A V-shaped wire-like member is freely connected to the other arm of the body and has a pair of swivelly connected spinners of unequal size which function to slow the descent of the lure to a controlled rate after the lure strikes a water surface so that the lure is maintained in a desired attitude for attracting fish.

Abstract: A fish lure in one form has a hollow cylindrical body with an open front end in combination with leader connection means within the body a substantial distance from the front of the body. In another form the leader has a skirt and water divertor mounted thereon in trailing relation to the body.

Abstract: A fishing tackle box particularly adapted for storing plastic fishing worms. The tackle box includes an outer housing having two opposed open sides. A plurality of open top horizontal trays, are mounted within the housing in a stacked configuration. The trays are mounted for vertical movement within the housing and have compartments therein for storing fishing tackle such as fishing worms and the like. Each of the trays includes structure for maintaining the tray in any of a plurality of vertical positions within the housing. The trays may then be selectively positioned vertically in the housing to allow access to the compartments in the trays through the open sides of the housing.

Abstract: A fishing jig is provided which includes a fishing rod rockable by the wind to jiggle bait and attract fish. The rod includes automatic hook setting mechanism triggered by the pull of a fish on the bait and stop means are engageable by the rod after being moved a predetermined distance in one direction by a fish to provide a reaction for triggering the hook setting mechanism.

Abstract: A humane animal trap has jaws and two spaced jaw closers, and two springs for the closers. One spring is relatively light and is triggered by the animal stepping on the usual trigger and the other spring is heavier and acts only after a delay. The jaws have adjacent one end thereof an enlarged sleeve, the animal struggling to escape from the trap drawing his leg into the sleeve and triggers the heavier spring.

Abstract: A detachable connector for attaching one end of an elongated member to the body of a fishing lure having an inwardly extending bore therein. The outer end of the bore terminates in a shoulder spaced from the adjacent surface of the body which has an elongated slot therein in communication with the bore. The inner end of the elongated member carries a lateral projection disposed to pass through said slot and into the bore while the projection is in a first position and to engage the shoulder upon rotation of the elongated member and the projection to a second position in the bore. A yoke member within the bore has a transverse member connected to spaced apart legs which engage the shoulder at opposite sides of the projection upon movement of the projection to said first position and enter said slot at opposite sides of the elongated member upon movement of the projection to said second position.

Abstract: A rodent baiting arrangement in which modular plastic units are assembled to form an entrance and feeding station into which rodents may pass, consume poisonous bait therein, and exit. The modular units may be assembled for placement along a wall or corner of an interior room or space, while being inaccessible to children and domestic animals. The assembled modules form a housing for the rodents, with feed and water therein. The modules may have transparent top surfaces to allow inspection of the interior of the modules.

Abstract: A stunning tongs for stunning animals prior to slaughter comprising a frame having a handle portion and a pair of stunning arms mounted thereon to permit relative movement between the arms, stunning electrode heads on the arms, a prime mover operable to effect rapid relative movement between the arms to impart a stunning blow on opposite sides of the animal's head, and an electronic stunning circuit operable in timed relation to the prime mover to pass an impulse of predetermined waveform frequency and voltage current for a predetermined time period between the stunning heads through the animal's head coterminous with the stunning blow. A manually actuable control switch is provided to supply actuating energy from an energy source simultaneously to the prime mover and the stunning circuit.
