Abstract: A navigation system that provides guidance information if more than three guide intersections are successively located adjacent each other. The vehicle navigation system's guidance information output is controlled on the basis of the successive relationships between respective intersections and is stored as programs in a memory medium.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling a transmission for use with an automotive vehicle including an engine. The transmission coupled to the engine for transmitting a torque inputted thereto from the engine to produce an output torque at a continuously variable speed ratio. A target value for the speed ratio is calculated based on vehicle operating conditions. A rate at which the speed ratio changes to the calculated target value is calculated. An upper limit for the rate is calculated to satisfy such a condition that the output torque is substantially equal to or greater than zero. The rate of change of the speed ratio is limited to the upper limit when the calculated rate of change of the speed ratio is greater than the upper limit.
Abstract: A flat sealing gasket has a metallic core plate lying generally in a plane, having a pair of opposite faces, and formed with at least one throughgoing hole and unitarily formed offset from the hole with an array of rigid abutments projecting beyond the faces. A bead of elastomeric material is provided on each of the faces around the hole and a layer of filler material is integrally joined to the bead and embedding the abutments. A grooved metallic ring surrounds the hole.
Abstract: A stationary chamber having a perforated peripheral wall contains an axial rotor having rubber-like radial carrier blades which, as the rotor rotates, are indented at their outer edges by guide means having helical turns extending along said peripheral wall. A passage allows ambient gas to enter the chamber so that the rotor's action on a liquid-solids mixture entering a first part of the chamber maintains a free liquid surface therein. The carrier blades and rotor coact with the helical turns to carry a liquid-bearing cake of the solids through the free liquid surface and thence through a second part of the chamber to a solids outlet, during draining of liquid from the cake through the perforated peripheral wall.
