Patent number: 6796139Abstract: A ground freezing method and system which circulates refrigerated heat transfer fluid through freeze pipes in the ground at a low temperature of at least −52° C. (−62° F.) to minimize drilling for the freeze pipe installation. The heat transfer fluid is preferably aqua ammonia (ammonium hydroxide) because of its beneficial characteristics in this application. The circulating heat transfer fluid is preferably cooled by a refrigeration system that includes low and high stage cycles arranged in a cascade relationship and using ammonia or another refrigerant in the high stage refrigeration system and carbon dioxide as the refrigerant in the low stage refrigeration system.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2003Date of Patent: September 28, 2004Assignee: Layne Christensen CompanyInventors: George Briley, Joe Sopko

Patent number: 6782705Abstract: A method and system for controlling the cooling of small milk quantities in a cooling tank (2) having a bottom wall portion (12) with a milk cooling surface (12′) within the tank being part of a cooling circuit an agitator (19) within the tank for stirring the milk therein. The gist of the invention is a) providing an element for measuring the milk quantity in the tank, and a temperature transducer (11) for monitoring the milk temperature in the tank, b) providing, in the cooling circuit, an evaporator (4) connected to the bottom wall portion of the tank, a compressor (5), and a condenser (7), c) controlling the temperature of the refrigerant in the evaporator by regulating the vaporizing pressure, so that the temperature of the milk cooling surface (12′) is always higher than 0° C. when the compressor (5) is running, d) monitoring the milk quantity in the tank, and, when sufficient/insufficient for the agitator to work properly.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 2002Date of Patent: August 31, 2004Assignee: Delaval Holding ABInventors: Magnus Lidman, Carolus Marinus Bernard Versteijnen, Anders Bjork, Lars Kall

Patent number: 6508065Abstract: The invention is a system and process for supplying fluid in hermetic circuits. The type of hermetic circuit is identified, and based upon this identification, vacuum and fluid supply conditions that are predetermined for the type of circuit are applied. Using the system and process, multiple types of hermetic circuits with varying operating conditions may be continually processed on a production line.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 1999Date of Patent: January 21, 2003Assignee: Multibras S.A. Patent number: 6457327Abstract: The process removes from a diluted gas one or more fluorine compounds present at a first concentration in the diluted gas and concentrates the fluorine compounds. This is done by directly contacting the diluted gas with a cryogenic liquid having a temperature less than or equal to about −150° F., thereby producing a vapor lean in the fluorine compounds and liquid enriched with the fluorine compounds at a second concentration. The second concentration is greater than the first concentration.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2000Date of Patent: October 1, 2002Assignee: Air Products and Chemicals, Inc.Inventors: Zbigniew Tadeusz Fidkowski, John Frederick Cirucci, Rakesh Agrawal, Timothy Edward Conway

Patent number: 6398185Abstract: A water flow timer including a main body, a water stopping membrane, a control rod, a bottom cover, a control member, a rotating member, a timing member, and a rotary cap. The timer is mechanically operated in such a way that the rotary cap is turned to actuate the control member to force the control rod to slide, thereby resulting in a gap between the water stopping membrane and a bottom opening of an inner chamber of the main body. The inner and the outer chamber of the main body are thus in communication with each other. As the rotary cap is turned, the torsion spring of the timing member is compressed to provide the rotary cap with a recovery force. The recovery of the rotary cap is delayed by an intermittent gear, so as to control the timing of the water flow.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2000Date of Patent: June 4, 2002Inventor: Hsin-Fa Wang

Patent number: 6351962Abstract: In a vehicle cockpit module assembly having at least an air conditioner disposed inside a dashboard, a protrusion piece for determining an arrangement position of an air-conditioning unit of the air conditioner within the dashboard is provided at the air-conditioning unit. A front load support portion for supporting a front side load of the air-conditioning unit is constructed by a drain pipe of the air-conditioning unit, and a rear load support portion for supporting a rear side load of the air-conditioning unit is constructed by rear foot ducts of the air-conditioning unit. Accordingly, in the cockpit module assembly, the air conditioner can be stably supported in the vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 2000Date of Patent: March 5, 2002Assignee: Denso CorporationInventors: Satoshi Mizutani, Kazushi Shikata, Shigeo Numazawa, Tomohiro Kamiya

Patent number: 5447042Abstract: The capacity control range of an interior unit of a multiple type absorption air conditioning system is enlarged, and turning on and off of cooling/heating and switch over between the cooling and heating can be readily and safely performed. The capacity control range is increased by reserving a liquid refrigerant in an absorption cool/warm water unit. An interior unit is connected to the absorption cool/warm water unit by a communication device. The operation of the cool/warm water unit caused by turning on and off the system and switch over between cooling and heating are automatically controlled by an operation control device. Consequently, the operation is simplified, and safety is improved.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 1994Date of Patent: September 5, 1995Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Tomihisa Ohuchi, Akira Nishiguchi, Seiichiro Sakaguchi, Daisuke Hisajima, Michihiko Aizawa, Takashi Nakao, Yasuo Koseki, Kyoji Kohno

Patent number: 5381673Abstract: In an absorption cooling system, a refrigerant condensate is converted to a refrigerant gas in an evaporator to achieve a cooling effect. The refrigerant gas is then converted into smaller bubbles in an inlet chamber of an absorber, and a mixture of those bubbles and lithium bromide solution is raised through a heat-exchange conduit to an outlet chamber of the absorber to cause the refrigerant gas to be absorbed by the lithium bromide. The lithium bromide which is diluted by the refrigerant gas is fed to a generator which separates the refrigerant from the lithium bromide. Residual refrigerant gas in the out let chamber of the absorber is returned to the inlet chamber.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 1993Date of Patent: January 17, 1995Assignee: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventors: Seung-Gap Lee, Sung-Ho Gil, Suk-Hyun Eun, Hong-Won Lee

Patent number: 5369961Abstract: An apparatus for the refrigerated drying of gases, more particularly of compressed air, has at least one gas supply system, with a refrigerating device which has a heat exchanger unit through which a refrigerant carrier is passed, a cooling assembly for cooling down the refrigerant to such a temperature that the liquid contained in the gas or the vapour contained in the gas is deposited in ice form, and a de-icing unit. In addition to a main gas supply system there is a further gas supply system which comprises the de-icing unit and to which hot refrigerant can be supplied from the main gas supply system wherein at least two de-icers are provided for the de-icing unit of which at least one can selectively undergo regeneration, and that downstream of the de-icer in the second gas supply system there is a collecting container which is connected to each of the de-icers and from which the refrigerant consumers can be supplied straightaway.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 1992Date of Patent: December 6, 1994Inventor: Wolfram Seiler
