  • Patent number: 4679375
Abstract: A narrow-faced suspension ceiling grid system is disclosed which includes grid tees providing central webs and relatively narrow, oppositely extending flanges in combination with panel centering means. The narrow flanges provide improved aesthetics and reduce the material required to form the grid tees when compared to conventional wide-faced grid tees. The panel supporting flanges are sufficiently narrow that if the grid were used with conventional panels having a conventional amount of clearance, they would not reliably support the panels in the grid. However, when the centering means are provided to center the panels within the panel receiving openings, reliable support is provided for the panels.

  • Patent number: 4679374
Abstract: The method of constructing single story building structures involves installing upon a prepared ground surface an array of upstanding load-supporting columns in spaced parallel lines and transverse parallel rows to define bays between adjacent column lines and define a rectangular panel area between each group of four columns at the corners of each such area. Primary and secondary panels are assembled in the panel areas at a convenient working height near the ground surface with the primary panels to form the roof structure over alternate bays and the secondary panels to form the roof structure for the bays intermediate these alternate bays. Each primary panel includes beams of a length to extend between adjacent columns in a line of columns, the beams being located at each end of the primary panel, and spaced joists secured perpendicularly to these beams with joist bridging secured perpendicularly of such joists.

  • Patent number: 4676038
Abstract: A structural member for mounting in a groove formed along a panel of a cabinet. This member has a base with a central dividing wall projecting from its top face and a pair of lateral wings converging, at 45.degree., from the side edges of the base, toward the central wall and terminating short of the central wall. The base, the central wall and the wings define a pair of outwardly open cavities each having a generally right angle trapezoidal contour in cross-section and extending along the base. A securing wall projects from the bottom face of the base and has tangs formed on lateral faces, these tangs being turned toward the bottom face of the base.

  • Patent number: 4676042
Abstract: A subpurlin (10) is provided for a building assembly having a plurality of overhead structural members (50), an insulating layer (62) and a plurality of overlapping roof panels (56). The subpurlins (10) support and space the roof panels (56) without compressing the insulating layer (62). Connector assemblies (30) secure the subpurlins (10) on the structural members (50) while permitting differential thermal movements between the roof panels (56) and the structural members (50). The connector assemblies (30) have ferrules (32) which slidingly engage slots (16) in the subpurlins (10). Washers (34) are fastened to the structural members (50) through the ferrules (32) during subpurlin (10) installation.

  • Patent number: 4674246
Abstract: A sliding window having two or more removable sashes each having a sash frame supporting a sealed doubled glazing unit, the sash frame having a sash head and a sash sill made from a thermally insulating plastic material extrusion presenting a hollow structure with two spaced apart guiding legs adapted to engage into and slide along corresponding head track and sill track members. The head track and sill track members provide a pair of guide grooves for the slidable sash and a pair of guide grooves of the same spacing for the fixed sash. A runner or a plurality of runners of appropriate anti-friction material may be disposed between the guiding legs of the sash sill and they bear upon a horizontal bearing surface provided on the sill track between the guide grooves of the corresponding pair thereof. The runners prevent contact between the guiding legs of the sash sill and the bottom of the guide grooves of the sill track.

  • Patent number: 4674249
Abstract: An improved, ventilated roof construction for flat roof installations substantially decreases damage caused by roof leaks that allow water to settle into the roofing substratum and insulation. A grid or perforated plate is supported in spaced arrangement above the underlying roofing support deck and immediately beneath the exterior roofing surface to define an air passageway or air duct therein. The grid allows evaporation of moisture from the insulation layer therethrough as air circulates thereunder. A plurality of conduits leading from the grid to the exterior roofing surface provide means for vacuuming accumulated water from the interior roofing structure to avoid damage thereto, or to pump water into the interior roofing structure to extinguish fires.

  • Patent number: 4672789
Abstract: A surface covering extruded plank comprising a wall surface portion having opposed transverse end walls. Each of the end walls terminate in a support flange each of which extends in a common plane substantially parallel to the planar surface of the wall surface portion. One of the transverse end walls has a fastener concealing wall extending transverse thereto and above the wall surface portion. The other of the end walls has a plank securing flange constituted by an extension of one of the support flanges. This other end wall further has a recessed portion disposed inwardly of an edge portion of the wall surface portion. A guide rib is provided in the recessed portion and defines a rear channel for receiving a portion of the concealing wall of an adjacent plank, and a front load connector holding channel.

  • Patent number: 4672783
Abstract: A frame surround for an aperture in a panel e.g. for a vehicle sunroof, capable of easy and rapid assembly, has a first (outer) component 1 surrounding the outer margin of, and entering the aperture to present a peripheral outwardly open groove for accommodating a second (inner) component 2. The second component is surrounded by a cable 3 tightenable by mechanism 4, and is formed as a number of polymer parts 5a, 5b, 5c to give a structure distortable inwardly as the cable is tightened to enter the outer component groove and clamp the margin of the panel around the aperture between the two components. The groove-entering clamping portions of component 2 are toothed to minimize friction. The cable 3 runs in a restraining groove in the outer face of component 2. The restraining groove does not lie in one plane, whereby tightening the cable tends to minimize cable length and thus distorts the structure by a predetermined amount, to correspond to panel curvature.

Each full or half block consists of a substantially parallel piped body having upper and lower faces, opposed side walls and opposed end walls. The side walls and the end walls define a central cavity and the blocks are arranged to receive similar blocks in overlying and underlying relationship. The outer surfaces of the side walls and end walls each include interlocking means, preferably in the form of fluting, any of which may be interengaged with any of the interlocking means of the outer surfaces of another building block of the same type. In a structure the blocks may interlock with a juxtaposed block in side to side, end to end, or end to side disposition.
