  • Patent number: 11873086
Abstract: A variable-sweep wing VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) aerial vehicle with distributed propulsion adapted for VTOL flight and horizontal flight includes a fuselage, a pair of symmetrical swiveling canards extending outward from forward portion of the fuselage, a pair of first symmetrical wings extending outward from the upper-rear portion of the fuselage and a pair of second symmetrical wings extending outward from the lower-rear portion of the fuselage. The first and second wings are spaced apart longitudinally and vertically. The pylon joins the first wing and second wing at the tip to form the box-wing. The wings can transition between VTOL mode or airplane mode. The wings are mounted with rotors for propulsion. Moreover, at the trailing edge of the wings, the blown flap work as blown lift system for both VTOL flight or STOL flight. Finally, the fuselage mounted pusher rotor provides propulsive thrust for horizontal flight.

  • Patent number: 11840330
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to a tiltrotor aircraft having a wing, a proprotor pivotably mounted on the wing, and a downstop striker attached to the proprotor using a load pin, wherein the load pin is configured to generate an output signal representing a force between the proprotor and the wing. A downstop mounted on the wing is aligned to be in contact with the downstop striker when the proprotor is in a horizontal position. A conversion actuator moves the proprotor between a horizontal position and vertical position. A flight control computer is coupled to the output signal from the load pin and configured to control the conversion actuator, wherein the flight control computer is configured to cause the conversion actuator to increase the force if the force is less than a first selected preload value or to decrease the force if the force is greater than a second selected preload value.

  • Patent number: 11827348
Abstract: A vertical takeoff and landing aircraft takeoff/land as a multirotor and cruises as an airplane. The aircraft comprises two major parts: a winged carrier frame comprises wings, engines, propellers and landing gears; a tilting fuselage comprises cockpit, cabin and tail. The winged carrier frame is basically an X/H frame multirotor in which its thruster carrying arms are wing shaped. The aircraft can vertical takeoff as a multirotor aircraft after gaining safe altitude and forward airspeed the aircraft changes its flying axis that the wings and the thrust direction parallel to the horizon. The lift generated by the wings and thrust generated by the thrusters that aircraft has basic airplane flying characteristics. The fuselage tilted to keep the crew, passengers and payload relatively parallel to the horizon. The speed is reduced then the winged carrier frame and the tilting fuselage returned to multirotor mode for the landing.

  • Patent number: 11760476
Abstract: A method for realizing a vertical take-off and landing aircraft that does not use a mechanism dedicated for take-off and landing, which cannot be achieved on the basis of an existing concept of aircraft flight control, by introducing a new concept of a shoulder rotational axis and an arm rotational axis into aircraft flight control and controlling vertical take-off and landing and ordinary flight with the same mechanism. This instruction eliminates a necessity of a tail and ailerons from an airframe of the aircraft, enables reduction of manufacturing, maintenance, and running costs thereof, and makes it possible to avoid problems of maneuverability and cruising distance performance of airframes of vertical take-off and landing aircrafts.

  • Patent number: 11745851
Abstract: A simple, safe, and inexpensive flight control system in an aircraft. An anti-torque system for a rotary-wing aircraft has an airfoil with a first surface extending from a first trailing edge and a leading edge, and a second surface extending from a second trailing edge to join the first surface at the leading edge. The airfoil has a first moveable deflector panel pivotally coupled to the first trailing edge, and a second moveable deflector panel pivotally coupled to the second trailing edge. Means are provided to pivot the deflector panels in unison about their respective pivot axes to alter the direction of travel of the airflow downstream of the pivot axes over the surfaces of the deflector panels, thereby producing a lift in a direction perpendicular to the airflow to counteract the torque applied on the aircraft. The flight control system may be arranged within a fixed-wing aircraft.
