  • Patent number: 5622094
Abstract: A net comprises a border member defined by at least a first border section and a second border section each extending generally orthogonally to one another and having a plurality of weft members each connected to one of the first and second border sections and being disposed in a first given direction. The net includes a plurality of warp members each connected to the other of the first and second border sections and being disposed in a second given direction generally oriented orthoganally to the first given direction. The weft and warp members being crossed with one another in a single common plane and in a manner which causes the members to be locked against relative axial and twisting movement. Each of said weft and warp members being a hollow braid member capable of being transversely pierced by the other such member.

  • Patent number: 5520084
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for braiding fine denier yarns to form a braided suture product which includes a frame, and a main carrier support plate supported on the frame and having a pair of undulating guide channels intersecting each other for guiding a plurality of yarn carriers. A plurality of yarn carriers are supported on the main carrier support plate, and each supports a bobbin for dispensing fine denier yarn. The yarn carriers are directed over intersecting paths corresponding to the shape of the guide channels, with a first set of the carriers being directed in a first direction and a second set of the carriers being directed in the opposite direction. The yarns are received in a common braiding zone above the yarn carriers while the yarn carriers are directed through the intersecting paths of the guide channels to form a braided sheath from the yarns.

  • Patent number: 5511372
Abstract: A transport vehicle transports a plurality of sliver cans between a can delivery station, work stations of a sliver processing textile machine, and a discharge station for empty cans along a given travel direction. The vehicle includes an undercarriage with a plurality of can parking places for the sliver cans. A plurality of can exchange mechanisms are provided, one for each can parking place. Each exchange mechanism includes a carriage supporting a respective one of the sliver cans. The carriage is slidable on the under-carriage transversly to the travel direction of the transport vehicle. A motor slidingly drives each of the carriages on the undercarriage. A can manipulating device, which is operatively associated with each of the carriages, displaces the sliver cans, setting them down and receiving them on a respective one of the carriages.

  • Patent number: 5375404
Abstract: A stranded product is formed from a central wire and a plurality of wires helically wound around the central wire, wherein each of the wires helically wound around the central wire has a small longitudinal groove which increases the area of contact between each of the outer wires and the core wire, thus significantly reducing the internal contact stresses within the strand to extend the fatigue life of the strand without significantly reducing the bending flexibility of the strand. A plurality of stranded products in accordance with the invention can be employed in a conventional manner to form ropes, cables and the like, having an extended service life.

  • Patent number: 5369945
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling a false twist texturing machine, which extends the previously known process for controlling operation during the normal operation of the machine, to exceptional operating conditions, such as during yarn thread-up and/or restarting after a temporary stoppage of operation by reason of a power failure. In accordance with the invention, the known method which includes control of the frictional force imparted to the yarn as a function of the yarn tension, is modified in such a manner that during periods other than normal operation, the control of the frictional force as a function of the yarn tension is terminated, and a predetermined frictional force is imparted to the yarn.

  • Patent number: 5113645
Abstract: A bobbin exchange apparatus for exchanging full bobbins for empty bobbins on a spinning machine. A bobbin exchange apparatus is mounted in a traveling service unit and includes a component for temporarily supporting a bobbin, a component for transferring a bobbin between and among the creel and the spare bobbin frame of the textile machine and the traveling service unit, and a component for displacing the end of the roving of a full bobbin temporarily supported on the temporary supporting device to an extending disposition ready for engagement for feeding to the drafting device of the textile machine. A suction applying device for applying the suction to engage the roving end is pivotally mounted to the temporary supporting component for pivoting about an axis parallel and offset from the axis of the temporarily supported full roving bobbin.
