Abstract: Examples of methods, systems, apparatus, and machine-readable storage media are provided to facilitate access and control of a remote desktop of a remote machine by a web browser at a client device through a web server without installing proprietary plug-ins or protocols on the client device. A web server may translate user input requests from a windows web browser into input calls compatible with a remote desktop display protocol. The web server may receive remote desktop drawing commands from the remote machine and translate the remote desktop drawing commands into web browser drawing updates compatible with the windows web browser. A web server may communicate with the windows web browser via HTTP and communicate with a remote machine via a remote desktop display protocol.

Abstract: A pre-processing method for video data playback and a playback interface apparatus are provided, wherein a video receiver module receives a video data with clips, the clips corresponding to numbers in first and second time-sequences, and wherein a display module creates a corresponding GUI component for each clip and arranges the GUI components in the playback interface. When two clips consecutive in the first time-sequence are not consecutive in the second, the display module places their corresponding GUI components separately or distinguishably. By discerning the several time-sequences of the video data, this invention ensures random access of data while being visually intuitive and uniform design-wise.

Abstract: A system is provided that performs automatic variable zooming. The system displays a project plan timeline within a user interface, where a project plan timeline includes one or more tasks and a timeline includes one or more time units. The system further receives an instruction to invoke automatic variable zooming on the displayed project plan timeline. The system further receives a criteria. The system further calculates one or more scores for the one or more time units of the project plan timeline based on the criteria. The system further adjusts a zoom level for one or more portions of the project plan timeline based on the one or more calculated scores.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide an active-application interface on a companion device that allows a user to control an application running on a primary device. The active-application interface may describe state information for a plurality of applications running on the primary device and allow the user to manipulate the application through one or more contextual controls. The active-application interface may be used to control applications running out-of-control focus on the primary device, including applications that do not presently have a visible viewport.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus comprises an operating module to which a touch operation performed with a pointing tool is entered; a calculating module that calculates a reference distance that is a distance between a reference point on an image display area of an operation display surface and a point on the image display area defined by a first operation performed on the operating module with a single piece of the pointing tool, calculates a control distance that is a distance between the reference point and a point on the image display area defined by a second operation performed on the operating module with a single piece of the pointing tool, and calculates a magnification ratio based on the reference distance and the control distance; and a magnification/reduction module that generates a scaled image by magnifying or reducing a display image displayed on the image display area by the magnification ratio.

Abstract: A personal wireless navigation system operable on wireless phone devices provides a platform for empowering a merchant-paid search. Performance of a navigation functionality in a personal wireless navigation system is higher and more comparable and competitive with portable navigation devices and in-car navigation systems, and the search capability is comparable and competitive with the most popular web search engines. A user interface (UI) and look and feel of the personal wireless navigation system is provided which is enhanced so that users do not simply want to use the product—they covet it. The personal wireless navigation system may be constructed such that a subset of it with fewer features and functions can be productized, marketed and deployed to users.

Abstract: Exemplary systems and methods may provide a user interface configured to provide a user with access to a plurality of browse contexts associated with a plurality of distribution models by way of which media programs are distributed through a media service, provide one or more user interface tools for use by the user to select which of the browse contexts is presented in the user interface and values of a refinement setting to be applied to refine the content of the browse contexts, track the values of the refinement setting individually for each of the browse contexts, and use the tracked values of the refinement setting to refine the content of the browse contexts presented in the user interface. The method also includes composing a combined action from the received second input from the second input source and the received first input from the first input source. The composed action is executed to interact with the part of the identified content.

Abstract: Upon receiving an input comprising an area of a user interface, a user interface element associated with the area of the user interface may be identified and a polygon-based representation of the at least one user interface element may be created. If the input is determined to comprise a selection of the user interface element according to the polygon-based representation, an operation associated with the user interface element may be performed.

Abstract: Content that is significant to a user may be determined. An indication that a user finds content within a document significant may be received. In response to the received indication, the document may be analyzed to identify a set of topics associated with the content of the document. From the set of topics, a subset of topics responsible for the user finding the document significant may be identified. A user profile associated with the user may be updated based on the subset of topics.

Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving, prior to entering a screensaver mode of operation, a search criteria identifying a requested subject matter, wherein the search criteria is based on a last user-initiated search query to a web-based search engine. In response to entering the screensaver mode, the search criteria identifying the requested subject matter is automatically transmitted to a web browser. Image content referenced by a set of uniform resource locators based upon the search criteria is sequentially presented. In response to receiving user input, a user-selectable region is presented comprising a selectable element superimposed on the first image. Selection of the element causes a defined action generating an e-mail message having an attachment with content referenced by a link associated with the first image. The GUI includes at least one first portion containing first data represented in a first form; and at least one second portion containing second data represented in a second form. The instructions of the CRM direct monitoring interactions between a user and the GUI.

Abstract: A method for conversation branching may include storing a plurality of messages communicated in an online conversation and generating a fingerprint for each message. The fingerprint for each message may be stored in a lookup table. The method may also include detecting a new message from one of the users and processing the new message to generate an artifact that correlates to the new message. The lookup table may be queried using the artifact to determine a similarity between the new message and each of the stored messages. One or more proposed reply messages to the new message may be generated for branching the online conversation to a new conversation point that corresponds to a selected one of the one or more proposed reply messages. The one or more proposed reply messages are based on one of the stored messages that has a closest similarity to the new message.

Abstract: Embodiments are provided for media playback controller interfaces, interface layouts, and interactions for facilitating a user's navigation and control of a media playback system. Implementation of a controller interface may involve displaying in an information window, content associated with a first tab at a position directly above the information window, displaying a second tab at a position directly below the information window, and in response to a first input, causing (i) the second tab to be displayed at a position directly below the first tab, (ii) the information window to be displayed at a position directly below the second tab, and (iii) the information window to display content associated with the second tab. Other configurations of tab and information window displays, some of which may be modified in response to user interactions with the controller interface, are also provided.

Abstract: A method and system to navigate viewable content in the context of television entertainment is provided. In one example embodiment, the system comprises a presentation module to present main content on a display screen, a communications module to receive a first request associated with a first directional key on a remote control device, a navigation mode detector to determine a navigation mode associated with the first request; a margin menu module to activate a margin menu associated with the determined navigation mode. The margin menu may be presented along one of the margins of a display screen, while permitting viewing of the main content.
