Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for providing a window management system for an embedded system. In one embodiment a method includes configuring an operating system of an embedded system based on a protocol provided between one or more application windows and a window manager, each application window associated with an application executed by the operating system, storing display content of the one or more application windows in a buffer, and compositing the one or more application windows in the buffer. The method may further include outputting data of the buffer for display of the one or more application windows based on the compositing, wherein an application programming interface is specified for the application to directly access graphics hardware of the embedded system.

Abstract: Provided is a design assistance system that enables a user having no expert knowledge to easily design a network system, taking into consideration the order in which slave devices are connected and the connection-destination ports. The design assistance system has a storage section that stores slave information data in which unique information of the slave device is described; an acquisition section that acquires information of a port of the slave device from the slave information data; and a generation section that generates a port component serving as a GUI component representing the port of the slave device based on the information of the port, generate a device component serving as a GUI component representing the slave device based on the slave information data, and generate a design assisting GUI containing a topology display screen that displays the topology of the network system which includes the device component and port component.

Abstract: An electronic system (and corresponding method) for creating and managing media content involves at least one content management system (CMS) and a service. The CMS is configured to interact with at least one first-type user in order to create and manage media content for publication. The service is configured to interact with a plurality of second-type users in order to submit media content items that are associated with media content managed by the CMS and to store such media content items. Both the CMS and the service include corresponding interfaces that allow for exchange of electronic messages therebetween via network communications over the Internet, wherein the electronic messages conform to a predefined protocol.

Abstract: A system, apparatus, and method for generating a spatial user interface for an application, system or device. The user interface includes a means of representing user interface functions or commands as audio signals, with the audio signals being perceived by the user in a spatially different location depending on the function or command. A user input device is provided to enable a user to select a function or command, or to navigate through the spatial representations of the audio signals.

Abstract: A method for displaying content items of a navigation system for a vehicle includes the steps of obtaining a scrolling input from a user, determining a value pertaining to the input, and displaying the content items at a first scrolling rate if the value is greater than a predetermined threshold.

Abstract: A system (and method) are disclosed for enlarging a portion of a view of a user interface displayed within a touch-sensitive screen. The system is configured to determine a predetermined touch area corresponding to a touch applied on the screen. The system provides, for display on the screen, a user interface, the user interface including selectable objects and a scrim of the user interface in response to a plurality of selectable objects being within the predetermined touch area. The system generates a magnified view of the selectable objects within the touch area and provides, for display on the screen over the scrim of the user interface, the magnified view. The area of the magnified view is greater than the touch area. Once a selection is made within the magnified view, the magnified view and scrim view are removed and the normal view of the user interface is returned.

Abstract: Methods for specifying and using objects, paths, initial and second individual real-time directions, and audio and video recordings entice users to create, share, and explore personally moving presentations and exhibits, without infringing copyrights. Similarly produced shows may comprise rich, interactive, graphical user interfaces, (GUIs), for additional services, applications, and content. Shows may be re-purposed to influence lighting devices and mechanical movements. Methods for implementing auxiliary activation inputs that are blatantly displayed provide productivity boosts without memorization, efficient display utilization one fullscreen at a time, and efficacious use of available device inputs.

Abstract: An embodiment generally relates to a method for displaying data. The method for displaying data includes a changeable directory module (CDM). The CDM is configured to determine a plurality of attributes for a data set. In determining a plurality of symbols, the CDM associates each symbol with a respective attribute. The CDM is configured to display an initial sequence of symbols on a navigation pane. The CDM is also configured to re-sequence the initial sequence of symbols and display the data set according to the re-sequence of symbols on a display pane.

Abstract: A system and method to define icon color of an icon image for program themes. At a server having a processor and storage, an icon definition file that includes a color handle and a shape definition of a first icon are stored. A plurality of cascading style sheets, each corresponding to a respective program theme, are also stored at the server. Each of the cascading style sheets corresponds to a respective program theme and includes a color definition mapped to the color handle. At the server, an active theme from among the program themes and an icon color, using the color definition associated with the active theme, are determined. An icon image for the first icon is then created based on the shape definition and the icon color.

Abstract: When a user enters a primary search query into a primary search query input area to perform a first search of the primary search query, disclosed is a method and system for automatically entering the primary search query into a secondary search query input area to perform a second search of the primary search query. When the user enters a secondary search query into the secondary search query input area to perform a first search of the secondary search query, the method and system automatically enters the secondary search query into the primary search query input area to perform a second search of the secondary search query.

Abstract: A method for recommending content items of a content item data base to a user, including: broadcasting user group characteristics, wherein a respective user group characteristic is descriptive of a respective user group; receiving at a user's location the user group characteristics; assigning at the user's location the user to at least one of the user groups, providing user group preference data, the user group preference data being descriptive of a relation between the user groups and the content items; and recommending content items according to the user group preference data.

Abstract: The detection of relative motion or orientation between a user and a computing device can be used to control aspects of the device. For example, the computing device can include an imaging element and software for locating positions, shapes, separations, and/or other aspects of a user's facial features relative to the device, such that an orientation of the device relative to the user can be determined. A user then can provide input to the device by performing actions such as tilting the device, moving the user's head, making a facial expression, or otherwise altering an orientation of at least one aspect of the user with respect to the device. Such an approach can be used in addition to, or as an alternative to, conventional input devices such as keypads and touch screens.

Abstract: A request is sent from a client device to a host device hosting an application capable of providing a split window view of content. Generation of a split window associated with execution of the application on the host device may include at least two split windows. Information regarding the split windows may be sent from the host device to the client device over the communication network. The client device may then use information regarding a first split window to generate an image display corresponding to the first split window. In addition, the client device may process the information regarding a second split window to stitch an image display corresponding to the second split window to the image display corresponding to the first split window. As such, upon scrolling of the display of the client device, the image display corresponding to the second split window may be displayed.

Abstract: Described is a user interface that displays a representation of a stereo scene, and includes interactive mechanisms for changing parameter values that determine the perceived appearance of that scene. The scene is modeled as if viewed from above, including a representation of a viewer's eyes, a representation of a viewing screen, and an indication simulating what each of the viewer eyes perceives on the viewing screen. Variable parameters may include a vergence parameter, a dolly parameter, a field-of-view parameter, an interocular parameter and a proscenium arch parameter.

Abstract: A solution for managing a graphical user interface including a panel area is provided. Content included in the graphical user interface can be generated for presentation to a user. The generating can include determining the content to be displayed using the panel area cannot be displayed completely within the panel area using a set of display settings. In response, data corresponding to a visible portion of the content can be added for display in the panel area and a graphical user interface scroll control can be provided for the panel area. The graphical user interface scroll control can enable a user to adjust the portion of the content displayed in the panel area in a first direction by manipulating the graphical user interface scroll control in the first direction.

Abstract: Methods and systems for monitoring consumer generated media are disclosed herein. Consumer generated media (CGM) is discovered using a plurality of keywords from a set of keywords configured to return consumer generated media embedded in a digital location. CGM is collected from a plurality of sources using a plurality of robots configured to collect media from the discovered CGM. CGM is normalized for statistical analysis. CGM is tested for conceptual relevance to the predetermined topic using the series of keywords. Sentiment is determined of the collected consumer generated media based on the semantics of the language in the collected CGM. A graphical user interface is generated having collected consumer generated media and statistical information related to at least one of the conceptual relevance and the determined sentiment.

An apparatus for providing graphical user interface according to an aspect of the invention includes an apparatus including an output unit outputting a first menu in which a plurality of menu items are arranged in a predetermined direction, and outputting a second menu having a first region and a second region that are classified from a menu item selected from the first menu according to a predetermined classification standard, and a control unit performing an operation that corresponds to a menu item selected from the second menu.
