    Abstract: An improvement in silver halide photographic light-sensitive materials having at least one silver halide emulsion layer on a support is disclosed. The improvement is that chemically sensitized silver halide grains contained in at least one of the emulsion layers have a distinct stratiform structure having substantially two parts comprising an inside core part and a shell part of the uppermost layer, wherein the inside core part of said grains is composed of silver halide containing 10 to 45% by mol of silver iodide, the shell part of the uppermost layer of the grains is composed of silver halide containing 5% by mol or less of silver iodide, and the emulsion containing silver halide grains having the distinct stratiform structure have an average silver iodide content of 7% by mol or more. The materials have high sensitivity, low fog and excellent graininess.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a negative fine grain silver halide photographic emulsion capable of afford hard tone and high D.sub.max and have a markedly higher sensitivity than convertional roomlight handlable light-sensitive materials and free from defects such as fogging and decrease in sensitivity under roomlight conditions. This emulsion contains at least 70 mol % of silver chloride and an organic desensitizer which has an anodic polarographic potential and a cathodic polarographic potential which when added together give a positive sum, the amount of said organic desensitizer being such that necessary to reduce the sensitivity of said emulsion by not more than log E=1.3 (log E=1.0 in the case of silver chloride). This emulsion may further contain a rhodium salt.

    Abstract: A silver halide photographic light-sensitive material is disclosed. The material is comprised of a support having thereon a silver halide emulsion layer containing light-sensitive silver halide grains, at least 10% (in number) of said halide grains being tabular grains having a diameter/thickness ratio of not less than 5. The tabular grains include an iodine-containing silver halide solid solution in an interior portion thereof which is contained in areas covering, with regard to its major or minor axis direction, 80% by mole of the silver contained in the grain. Further, the tabular grains have an average iodine content in the internal high iodine phase which is five times that of the silver bromide, iodobromide or chloroiodobromide contained in the phase present outside of the internal high iodide phase. In addition, the silver contained in the internal high iodine phase is not more than 50% by mole of the total amount of silver in the tabular grains.
