  • Patent number: 5418661
Abstract: An active filter characteristic changeover circuit, for use in a video cassette recorder, includes an active filter, for a video signal, whose passing band width is dependent on a control current value, a current supply circuit for supplying a control current to the active filter, and a changeover circuit for changing over the control current value outputted from the current supply circuit between in a VHS mode and in an SVHS mode.

  • Patent number: 5402274
Abstract: In a signal processing unit for writing/reading data on/from a disk-shaped recording medium of a disk apparatus, all of a data separator, a code decoder circuit, a code encoder and a write compensation circuit are constructed on a one-chip integrated circuit. The data separator separates a synchronization clock from a code data reproduced from the disk. The code decoder circuit produces decoded data from the synchronization clock as the output from the data separator, and synchronized code data. The code encoder encodes data supplied from a host computer or a disk controller into code data. The write compensation circuit compensates for a peak shift with respect to write code data. This integrated circuit is fabricated by a Bipolar-CMOS process by which a bipolar transistor and a CMOS transistor are mixed with each other thereon.

  • Patent number: 5398143
Abstract: An image carrier for storing video information including a plurality of slant tracks recorded thereon, wherein each of the tracks is characterized as including a predetermined number of sync blocks defining a predetermined track length, wherein each of the sync blocks is divided into first and second portions storing respective first and second digital signals coded therein. The first digital signal permits reconstruction of an input image during a trickplay mode of operation while the second digital signal permits reconstruction of an input image with a comparable resolution during a normal play mode of operation. On the average, the first digital signal of each sync block represents a complete scan line of the input image.

  • Patent number: 5363251
Abstract: In a magnetic recording device for magnetically recording Information on a magnetic recording medium by a magnetic head, the magnetic head is so oriented that the magnetic flux leaking at the head gap is at right angles with the direction of relative movement between the magnetic head and the magnetic recording medium and parallel with the surface of the magnet recording medium. The magnetic recording medium may have track portions formed of a magnetic material, and intertrack portions formed of a nonmagnetic material. The magnetic recording medium may alternatively be formed of convex track portions and concave intertrack portions.

  • Patent number: 5327295
Abstract: A recording apparatus of the present invention includes selective guard adding means for predicting, at the time of editing, positions of adjacency of new tracks to previously recorded tracks obtained at the time of completion of new track recording, and adds, at the time of editing, guards to locations where disturbance due to residue of erasing of the same azimuth might occur in order to remove or reduce the disturbance due to residue of erasing of the same azimuth caused at the editing point. When performing reproduction from a recording medium whereon tracks recorded by heads of at least two kinds of azimuth angles are disposed alternately and a plurality of tracks are handled as one recording unit and recorded, a reproducing apparatus of the present invention is so configured that the center of each of heads located at both ends of reproducing heads may be shifted to the inside as compared with each corresponding recording track.

  • Patent number: 5311374
Abstract: A recording/reproducing system for use in a digital audio tape recorder using memory functions and a method thereof which are capable of storing reproduced aural signals in a memory bank, and capable of reading and recording the stored aural signals without the use of an additional DAT system. The system includes a memory section for storing signals that are input to a D/A converter from a digital signal processing section, and a memory controlling section for storing signals that are input to the D/A converter from the memory section, and for reading and applying the signals stored in the memory section to the digital signal processing section. As a result, the system and the method for recording/reproducing can duplicate a tape with one DAT by storing reproduced signals in the memory when the DAT is in are producing mode and reading and recording the stored signals in a tape.
